Hello Everyone! As you people know that Google has changed its link exchange guide line a little bit and included the work "Excessive" in the beginning. I wish to ask how much link exchange is count as excessive, 100, 200 etc. Thanks in advance.
Excessive to me is a % of your link profile. So if most of your links are reciprocal to me that would be excessive.
I agree with bogart here. You have to make sure you have links of all kinds coming to your site, reciprocal, non-reciprocal, directory links, blog links, maybe forum links etc. The concept is very similar to my post about Too Many Blog Comments can be Harmful, if you ONLY get links from blogs to your blog. If you are doing link exchanges, don't just reply on them for links.
wxcessive means too much. I believe it would be a percentage as well. What that number is is another question but i think anything over 33% would be treated less than favorably.
Well, I have done sitewide link exchanges from blogs only. My site links only to their homepage. Is backlinks on other pages of the blog will be counted as reciprocal links or non reciprocal links
you may be banned because of link exchange. pls read http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=433572
I think they will take into account many things such as relevance, mixture of links such as articles, press releases etc. But I feel that if the bulk of your links are reciprocal than you need to focus on other things anyway. Because Google is seeing that reciprocal links really add very low value to the user experience anyway.
If the majority of Links are reciprocal, it may be taken as excessive. If you Link pages have a clear footprint, e.g. One page with 200 Reciprocal Links, or 20 pages each with 50 Reciprocal Links, it is clearly excessive. There will be many grey cases in-between which will not remain clear, and the bar here may shift with time.
