Btw, does anybody believe there will be a PR update at all?

 

In my opinion, yes there will be a update. My reason is simple. Look at any post made by Matt Cutts on his blog before July 2nd but after the last export in April/May. Those pages are still PRO. Now, I estimate that those posts will at least get a PR4 or PR5 after the export is finished. We just have to be patient.

 

Yeah i agree, for that very reason. I think they had a glitch or are implementing some method that is taking longer.

Well, for G* there's no good reason to make the PR public at all. If they hide the PR they eliminate the paid link market and that's what they want.

 

Yes, the latest update is that there is no update and won't be until you actually see the little green bar go up down.

 

I don't believe that Google wants to see the link market to go down necessarily but I do believe that they will come down hard on Link Farms which maybe they should!

The whole ranking system is designed to decifer who is the most popular sites, and to then place them in a good position for people to find them. Link farms for instance, manipulate the positions and that kind of stinks, and the thing is, I own a couple of those sites that I am going to take down!

It should be about ADVERTISING your website, not manipulating the search term positions and it is no different if you pay someone to put a link of yours on their high traffic, nice PR to hopefully get some visitors to your site or to place your site and URL on a billboard in the city!!!

So I guess they should cut the Crap out!!

yes, I agree - but they have one problem. Google earns it money from AdSense - a "pay for traffic" system. In case they kill the "pay for pr" market they push the "pay for traffic" market beside Adsense because the only alternative for giving a value to a website is the Alexa ranking.

That's 100% hilarious because it's 100% true. I come in every couple of days to a week and it's the same thing being said 40 pages later lol.

 

I sure wish they would update PR every 1 month.. would be quite useful so that I knew how well I was doing

 

We all wish that, but if they can't even get it right once every three months, how in the world could they orchestrate it every month.

 

yeah that's right... and it's not easy... millions of websites... that's the issue...

I found that --change of algo is the most logical way to explain the current scenario.

A handful of sites got updated because they were lucky that G picked them to test their algo. Most sites are still waiting.
