In regards to google liking fresh, new relevant content. Would a custom made directory (provided it's coded correctly) generally rank higher than the free/paid directory content management systems available? Obviously, google doesn't see the server side code, but the HTML will be different to phpLD(or other) directory sites.
It would still take continuous hard work to promote and the G impact depends on many additional factors There is no guarantee on anything it takes expertize and experience to know your way around
So lets assume we have two directories. both pretty much the same. Same number of back links, optimised for the same keywords, etc... Would google (or other search engines) favour the slightly different custom version? or would the affects be negligible? thanks
The unique content would be one of many key factors, as it always is, with the SE's one site maybe all cut n paste reviews the other site might all original titles and descriptions, no marks to go top of class which the SE's would prefer
I doubt the effects would be that much different between the two. If you spend a little time and effort on a phpLD powered site, it doesn't take much effort to stop it from appearing as a phpLD script.
