"Big G", according to CNET last week hired browser-hacker and guru Michal Zalewski. Now we have all those rumors again with claims of Google being “closer than ever” to release a browser competing with IE and that it would "only need to patch up potential vulnerabilities” in it's "secret" browser.

The main reason for G releasing its very own browser would be the RUMORED incapability in this "secret", yet to be seen browser to disable ads, as is possibe today in IE and FF.

From that point of view G would have an agenda. From an adsense/adwords publisher's point of view a good thing, certainly.....what about the user ? What would you do if you'd to use a browser where you cant block ads ?

If I wanted to block ads (which I don't), and Google's browser didn't allow that (which it may or may not), then I would simply not use said browser.

If google brings out a browser its bound to rock. All the software they brought out so far its brilliant.

I would vision it as being faster than all other browsers without all the crap and security holes.

Haha, very well said, chimaera. Simple, but true.

Maybe Google can offer users some sort of incentive to use the browser...not sure though what they could offer...maybe a pay per search type thing, but that seems too trivial for Google.

Why would they do that? Firefox is already eating away at MSFTs marketshare.

I'll still stick with Firefox. And IE will always be my last choice.

I'd definitely be interested in trying out Google's. Hard to believe it wouldn't be the quickest and least memory intensive.

Why they created their own browser? To help advertisers in adwords?

"Incapability of disabling ads"? Lol, that the most stupid rumour I ever seen - if a person doesn't want to look at Ads, they are completely useless for him, and can effect it as bad publicity for publisher.

Ok this sounds fun..Google taking over the internet...huh ;)...well the fun will be to see how Google will compete with FireFox...and how will FireFox respond to this competition...will we have another headline news "Mozilla Fires Google AdSense" like previously Digg did?

Can't tell if i will use it or not, will still have to see, and i am curious about the features and performance this browser will have (if ever gets released).

it is creating a competitive browser to itself:confused::confused:

Not everything google touches is best. There are at least 2 better alternatives to google desktop search for example.

Perhaps they are promoting another browser to avoid potential anti-trust situations down the road.

the fact that they didnt release a browser long ago is proof that they see that it's hard to compete with FF et al...

If its REALLY the case they have something up their sleeve i am guessing it must be something outstanding w/ never seen features..and on a certain level i can see google pulling off something like that. (Most of their other s/w is excellent).

From that point of view its extremely surprising we dont have a kicka** Gbowser already....maybe FF-people have a saying there, or there are legal talks going w/ microsoft/FF...who knows...
