I know a thread covers this in the BST section but I have some more detailed questions that I need answered. I have a proxy that I want to sell, just can't keep up with domain and hosting and what-not and want to set up a blog right now. Pushing the domain is the easy part, but I have some questions about hosting and whatever. When I bought the proxy, I paid to have someone set it up for me and now I'm ready to sell it. It came with one months free hosting, a domain, and the proxy. The domain has a year left but the hosting has only a couple weeks. What do I need to do when I sell the website other than push the domain? How do I transfer the hosting, etc.? Thank you for your help, rep will be added for helpful answers!
Transfer all the files to the new owner.... Personally I have no experience in transfer proxy sites but you can hire someone to do that for you.
When I sell a blog or a site. I give the new owner login rights before transferring off of my server. I give them an alotted time. Usuall 24 - 72 hours before I tell them that I will delete off my hosting/server. If they have login rights. They can usually do a backup to their computer before transferring to a new dns server.
Try asking the existing hosting company, to let your buyer take over your hosting account, that way you will only need to push the domain name transfer, which could make the sale a lot easier.
Yes I agree with ipstrong, give the buyer ftp / control panel rights to your server and tell them it is their job to do the transfer.
