Why DO people still use Yahoo?

Hi guys,
A Q I have been wanting to ask for ages; why exactly do people still use Yahoo? If it has been proven (or, common knowledge) that google displays more relevant results, why do people still use Yahoo?

 

"Google displays relevant results" it is for you.Sometimes i find what i m looking on yahoo.google is generally spam board!

 

I agree i find a lot of junk in google too very often the better results are in yahoo.

 

After last 2 updates google is worse. Yahoo has better results and more people are using them to find what they want now.

Interesting to see other people's views on SE relevance.

 

Its a demographic reputation they have. I guess more females use Yahoo than Google. Its just about its presentation. People associate themselves with the search engine they use.

 

Interesting way to look at it... But i prefer the presentation of google and the results in yahoo

 

That is very true. I would feel very uncomfortable searching for things on the net without google as my homepage.

 

I'm old school, so I just goto Yahoo because thats the site I've always used.

I think any smart webmaster will try and rank in both of them.

 

Yahoo is much less spammy than Google.

 

It depends on what you search for, sometimes yahoo give me the result i need sometimes its google. Plus yahoo.com is more than just SE, its a portal.

I get news when my browser starts with yahoo, so i guess it depends

From recent survey it is cleared that most users of yahoo is satisfied then Google. Yahoo is less spammer so people use it.

 

Yahoo is a portal website. Not just search.

 

I'm atualy starting to use Yahoo more then Google now, I'm atualy waiting for YPN, Google is atualy starting to anoy me at the moment.

Not really searching with Yahoo yet, but looking into it.

I'm using there YIM mow now.

Google areently google is brining out an Operating System next year?

 

I use Yahoo! because i can find a lot of lists in result of my search..and it's better than google too, my opinion.

I understand that there are also geographical biases. Yahoo is a much stronger brand in certain parts of Asia.

Perhaps the poster meant 'why would english speaking 'mainstream' web users still use Yahoo to search'?

i dont think so.google is much stronger at non-america.
google is more local so people uses it.i believe yahoo is more american.
