I wonder why blogs are so popular these days? I don't read them at all! I prefer to read normal sites, blogs don't look nice for me... Any ideas?
Easy to get up and running and add new content. That's the primary reason, everybody wanted one because you don't need to be a html coder to have a website.
You might want to take a look at this blog post: http://blog.webmasterforumph.com/reasons-why-you-should-create-a-blog/83/ I hope that helps
I see them as just another publishing platform. There great because they also involve the site's audience.
People are making money through blogs that is why they are fairly popular these days. They are also good to build links in a very short period of time.
Hello, You can call it a blog however the software used to create a blog in my case wordpress is a very powerful software system system and is easy to use has a ton of plugins and I can have webpages up in minutes. This beats html pages. So I use blogging software to build my sites because of its simplicity. Joe
Blogs are easy to create. You might have people who are proficient in a particular subject but unable to express their views as they aren't computer literate and cannot create a HTML site on their own. There are tons of blogs. As Technorati says, some of them are bound to be good. And blogs are updated quite regularly. Also when the blogger writes, he has no restriction imposed upon him, unlike writers for some big sites. He can write in his own, unique way without bothering about the net population as a whole.
I used to think the same thing until I got hooked on a couple. I like them because you can download their RSS feed into Thunderbird, I don't have to go to their sites. You can pick up a ton of info from blogs. You can also pickup alot of bs.
People love contents and blogs with unique writing of interesting topics will always get a big hit. Lastly, the money from blogging is not forgotten. Highest blogger earns $200000 a month (TechCrunch)
Personally, I like to read blogs with quality content, even personal posts. I just go to the blog, read a bit, then move on to other blogs. Maybe other people do this, too, which means many blogs get hits from people who are just doing this... The really good blogs are...well, really good, so people link to them. Blogrolling is basically for linking to other blogs, and it's easier than putting a link up on a website, which may be another reason. And for the owner, it's fast, easy, and no HTML (usually) needed.
blogs seem to have the narrow info that you search for on Google, that's why I like them (extremely narrow tech questions, etc). I have never and will never read a blog for any other reason.
Web 2.0 now blogs r giving regular infos like news papers...some blogs are news paper..and saome are even like novels...especiallly personal blogs..and some are regular guides...information...they provide much info....
They don't unless there is something there that is actually interesting to them. That's why niche specific blogs with actual content are better than one person's random thoughts or a bunch of random entries designed for links. Of course random thoughts are great if you're sharing what your kids have been up to and random entries for links are obviously great for links. It just depends on what a blog is used for and how its developed. A few dedicated readers are better than a bunch of random people who just click away when it loads.
