    Hi all,
    i have this question.
    me colleagues have been developing some websites with DotNet, and the seo question came whether it was OK to have a title like this (example taken from www.asp.net):

    <title>
    The Official Microsoft ASP.NET 2.0 Site
    </title>

    (notice the space after the <title>)

    is that ok? in my vision, that is NOT ok.

    second question was: if u check the description and keywords than u see that both of them end with a backslash (\) is that OK or what? for me? NO!

    here u have an example, also taken from www.asp.net:
    <meta name="description" content="Microsoft portal site for the ASP.NET development community. Download Visual Web Developer, post to the forums, read ASP.net blogs and learn about ASP.net." />

    <meta name="keywords" content="ASP.NET, ASP.NET 2.0, Whidbey, .aspx, .ascx, Web, HTML, Developer, Internet, Microsoft, Web Services, Visual Studio .NET" /><meta name="author" content="Microsoft ASP.NET Team" />

    so, what do u guys think, i really need to have an answer on this topic, so that they dont have to fix anything, if its ok already. if someone can point me to some resources where i can gather some information about this.

    thanks for reading (and helping) :p

    The title is fine. You can tighten it by not having any spaces, but its not going to actually "hurt" your rankings. You only have so many characters to use in the Title tag, so keep that in mind.

    As for the second part of your question, I'm pretty sure that forward-slash has to do with XHTML markup language. You don't necessarily have to have it, but on the other hand, it doesn't hurt you on the SEO side of things.

    I only see forward slash which is ok.. But I would get rid of the space.. I do not think it will hurt the ranking..

    <title>
    The Official Microsoft ASP.NET 2.0 Site
    </title>

    Thanks

    Frankly, I'd keep the TITLE element on one line. Then again, I actually hate the "AT&T style" of coding/programming and prefer to keep things on one line, breaking and indenting as necessary (some old-school programmers will recognize this as the "Wirth" style of programming).

    Keeping codes like the one in the title is ok, but it is taking too much "space". Your file will become bigger and load slower compared one without additional space.

    end slash is ok, seo wise. It's xhtml convention and for some spiders or browsers, they won't work correctly on xhtml without the end slash. So, if you are writing codes in xhtml, the end slash is a must.

    If you are confuse, go to w3c website and test your website using their html and xhtml validator.

    There could be tons of opinions on small coding stuffs like this. The correct answer is in Google itself. Submit your sitemap and see whether Google gives error or not. If not, don't worry about the small things. And Google is following w3c convention, so check it with w3c for coding wise, and google for seo wise.
