heres my effort, i didn't want to ruin it with a plug hole, or a tap/bath/shower/toilet or whatever, so just kept it clean and simple, yet professional..

If you take that logo, you absolutly don't have an unique logo.

 

Now that sounds like sour grapes. (Your teardrop is hardly unique my friend)

A logo that is unique is made up of an image, color, text and layout. The image part itself has also been tweaked.

Now I agree with you 100% about using a logo for a business that has been made with a free logo maker. Any logo maker that uses pre-designed images for that matter. But I agree for different reasons.

If you want a completely original and unique logo design you should use a professional design company. That way you can be sure that you have a logo that can be built into a strong brand.

i agree with everything you say, but the point of the contests around here are for new designers to make a bit of extra cash, and to boost their abilities, some spend hours editing a design, that you could just come up with in 2 seconds using a free logo tool? It sort of takes away the purpose of the contest, in my opinion If thats how it is then all of the contest holders may aswell join your site and make themselves one?

(p.s this isn't sour grapes, i'm not like that!, just my opinion!)

P.P.S, Surely if it's a free logo design tool, i could recreate that EXACT design, as you don't actually have the right to it? because it was made using a website? unsure about that, correct me if i'm wrong!

So all those using the logo creator or all those plugging in clipart are doing what to enhance their skills?

There is more to designing a logo than putting a bit of clipart and text together.

If people want to earn a bit of cash entering contests using clipart and the logo creator then they might as well use a decent piece of software to make the logos with.

As long as people state that the logo is made using a logo maker tool then I see no problem with that. Feel free to design logos using logoease and enter them here or sell them on ebay. Just make sure though that people know what they are buying.

You can't beat a real design company though when it comes to getting a real logo

PS... the images themselves are copyright of Graphic Design Ltd. If you re-created the exact same image yourself you would not own the copyright. The image itself is not created on a website. It is created using vector drawing tools.

If you create a logo though with text, color and layout using one of these images then it is very likely that you willl be able to trademark the logo. However, that does not mean you own the copyright to the image used in the logo.

This is a gray area and one that I hope to bring to the attention of everyone using logo maker software for business logo design.

 

i wasn't saying that people are using your free logo editor to enhance their skills, im saying the majority of the members on dp who enter are using photoshop, and have a keen interest in furthering their graphical design abilities on this program, some spend hours making logo's for just $20, when you're knocking one up in a matter of minutes with minimal effort, and giving it away for free. maybe it's just me being irrational, i'm not having a go at you though, well done for winning your first contest, may it be the first of many, but i just feel i may aswell go on www.flamingtext.com and type in the name of the logo i'm creating, and let them do my work, as in a way that's what you're doing in a matter of clicks?, essentially letting someone else do your work? unless your program has loads of tools and stuff, i haven't actually checked.

P.S if YOU actually own the tool, then well done for creating a great piece of software.
