Trying to Sell Information in the B/S/T?

I've seen many people now trying to sell information regarding a link on a High PR site or so. For example one person charged 10$ for info on how to get a Permanent PR8 link on Netscape but it turns out it was an internal page (like UserCP on DP) so it was worth no value.

Isn't that not allowed, even if it isn't noticeable enough to figure out how to get a PR8 link, it's free right? And I have seen an increasingly large increase in those types of threads, I think the mods should crack down a bit more on this, because even I got fooled into paying for one.

although what you say has its merits, it may boil down to "buyer beware".

Caveat Emptor principle to be followed.

When a forum increases in popularity, the number of threads like these ones go up in number. The mods simply can't close every thread which says permanent PR 8 for $10.

I don't like these at all. Taking your link example, it sticks in my throat that some people think they can sell links on a site that doesn't belong to them. It's no better than theft as far as I'm concerned and anyone doing this is morally devoid.

However, I don't think it's against the rules and as long as people are daft enough to pay for this sort of information you'll always get some lame chancer trying to sell it.

It's not even against the rules? They should add it in the book, I believe you can't sell anything Free though right?

Sell something for free? Erm, no - if you are selling something it means you are expecting payment, therefore not free. This thread has become all psychadelic.

Oh what I mean is if for example there is an e-book someone wrote for free you can't just take it and sell it right?

Generally speaking (of course there are exceptions) people can try and sell whatever they want.

Don't buy off of people you can't trust. It's just that.
If you need more information, GET it. You're taking a risk not knowing more about what you are buying then...and always do your homework over the people (unless otherwise reputation or feedback proves them).
