This is something i wish i had, could be used for the really quiet categories, id gladly give a listing much cheaper for a category that is usually less popular, it would help get genuine listings for those categories and the submitter would be pleased.

    Once I did such mod.
The code is still live on LinkForever, however prices are default.
I have new option in Admin while editing each category so I can setup individual price for each category.
Have similar solution in my Category Sponsors mod. Individual price for text link or for banner can be set for each category. If not set or equal 0 - default price is set.

    BTW
Hello again - I'm back home after short vacation.
Soon will be writing more, and slowly getting back to work :)

I need to know another thing !

Whether some of you would be interested in different price for different PR pages also??

i.e that means a different price for a link on PR3 page from price for a link on PR5 page?

Don't let greed bury the industry.

As strictly a submitter, I can tell you that this mod will severely piss me off, and I'm sure 90% of other non-directory-owning submitters. You guys are going to give prospective submitters one more reason to stop doing business with directories. Is that what you want?

Directories are already on shaky ground with Google, or at least Cutts' comments have made people hesitant about any type of paid link. If you guys start making me (and others) have to search around for a particular price for a particular category, I may call it quits. Ever heard of the saying, "The straw that broke the camel's back"?

    I do n't think

Different price for different categories will certainly help submitters

as we can provide discount for some categories

I am asking this as I have finished the MOD ,but I am looking at feedback for different prices for different PR pages. as I have a plan to that also.

I think this is a bad idea. The same review fee should apply to all categories regardless of pr. Otherwise it looks as though you are just selling pr and not trying to build a quality resource.

    Just my thought of course.

I think this mod is really a good idea, as some submitters might be turned off by the standard pricing in some categories which have little to no listings at all. Consider this a "review discount" for less populated categories. I am all for it.

This would be a good idea to implement :)

agreed here with banless ... are you charging for a link or a review ???

if you are charging for a link than this mod is for you because i dont think you will spend less time reviewing the cheap category and more time reviewing the bigger category.

A review is a review regardless of a category, so one fee.

All it shows to a normal visitor that you consider some categories more important than others. It will also drive spam because people will submit less relevant links in cheaper categories just to get a link.

so now my question is if you are selling links and accept any and all links than go ahead use this mod ... i won't

    I am against this mod.

Of course, you can try whatever type of pricing you like. I'm just telling you that I, for example, won't pay more for my placement than any other person in a different industry pays. There will be far more unhappy people than happy people because the focus of such a mod will inevitably be to increase the prices of "popular" categories.

You're asking for trouble. When PR goes down, are you willing to refund EVERY payment from the previous 4 months since the last PR update?

it will make directory owners look more like link sellers. Charging prices for different links, rather than a standard review fee.

Also i can see people charging a stupidly premium price for web directory submissions, as you tend to get the most of them at first, which would also be bad for submitters.

    Just MO

I will release the original MOD as it is(without any modifications) with this you can change regular and featured prices for each category separately regardless of PR (i.e PR has not been included)

I do n't see anything fishy in this as you can charge different prices for top categories.

The purpose of this MOD is to charge less for some categories.I can also add some features to it so the MOD does n't allow directory owners to charge more than the standarad submission fee.But with this you can charge only less for some categories.

If you truly believe that, then go ahead and take the risk. I still believe that the vast majority of directory owners will use it to increase the price of popular categories. You're going to shoot yourself (by "yourself," I mean the directory industry as a whole) in the foot, in more ways than one.
