Interesting timing as Google announced that it will be asking for payment for storage now. Read the article @ http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070815...il_upgrades;_ylt=AmY724PpvQDhYOJabckZ_9us0NUE
Thanks for the heads-up. I have not been in my Hotmail account in a little while and had not noticed this update. For free accounts I have been gravitating toward Yahoo as they provide unlimited storage.
Yap me using yahoo too, but don't quite like the spam filters that yahoo uses. Gmail still has the best spam filtering I have seen!
Gmail's spam filtering is v. good but I am starting to see more spam arriving in my inbox. I am signed up to so many lists it is suprising that it did not happen sooner, someone however has compromised my email address & I have started to get emails from some spam centre sliming with the usual BS crapwares. Indeed interesting Claudek thnx for posting, all Microsoft needs to do now is sort out the 2nd rate interface & reliability hotmail has & it will be usable.
5Gb is useless. Anything past 1Gb is pointless. No one can utilize even 2gb of Space with a 10mb max attachment limit. Ok, Maybe they can if they send 200 10 MB attachments, but legitimately, its difficult to find a person using up all their space on their email service.
Gmail is the best at SPAM FILTERING with approximately 2.5 GB storage. Yahoo behaves somewhat strange sometime after migrating to unlimited storage. I gave experienced so many times this thing with yahoo.
I'm at around 50% for my space on hotmail, my friend is over 80%. Regular email builds up, it's nice to have the space. Doesn't hurt, thats for sure.
Hotmail is great as always. Leave yahoo mail alone. I stopped using it after all the unsolicited mails i got.
I see many people posting "5gb is useless", "more than 1gb is useless" etc because you can't fill it up. I partially agree; you cannot fill it up quickly with just emails. But I know quite a few people who are constantly emailing eachother little movies. No idea why they don't post it on youtube, but they email it. That way, your inbox of 5gb or so is filled quite a bit faster! It really isn't too difficult to fill up an email box of 5gb ... even though it is a lot of space! Personally, I haven't noticed a change yet in my hotmail account. I don't use more than 2% of my current space (2 GB), so I guess I don't need a 5 GB upgrade yet ...
