That page strength tool from seomoz.org is crap .... Half the information needed to do an accurate PS score cannot be obtained which makes it very unreliable.

I know they have been working hard to improve it, but it’s far from being accurate and they need to add additional sources as well for it to be worth anything.

Just my 2 cents worth :)

What is google doing. This is enough. I don't think they care that webmaster base a lot of their business on the strength of a page. Very selfish on their part if you ask me.

I don't agree. I think that anyone who bases their business model on something that is completely out of their control and fickle is.....well, a little stupid.

You might contact God, but not Google. They could simply explain what's happening in a usual blog by matt cutt. In the absence of other viable search engines , they can act anyway they wish.

you are confusing your business with Google's, they don't care what your PR is, their goal is to serve the best search results to their customers, the better they do this the more money they make.

Why should google care about webmasters when they are not the majority customers of their search engine?

In a thread with a lot of really dumb comments, this one has to rank in the top 5.

In case you've forgotten, Google is a SEARCH ENGINE. They are not in the business of making webmasters rich - or poor for that matter. What you do with your site is your business and of no interest to Google whatsoever except insofar as it affects the accuracy of their search rankings. How much money you make or don't make is of no interest whatsoever to Google.

And if you've been basing ANY of your business decisions solely on public PageRank, you are in the wrong business entirely.

Okay. I am kind of new at this. My question is. Since the Pr hasen't happened for most including me. If i buy a few high pr links now, when we are so "close" to an pr update, would these links be counted inn for this coming update?

No one outside of Google can answer this question with any certainty, but...

My feeling is that Google has already collected the data for this PR update and is currently in the calculation phase. This would mean that any links we build at this point will not be factored into toolbar PR until the following update.

I think they base that PR update on a snapshot that has already been taken, so no. I may be wrong however.

They take the snapshot, update the datacenter, and then update the Toolbar PR last. They've done the first 2.

One of my directory is already showing a new pr5, I think this update will be good for most of us.

By Sunday I think will be seen a lot more.

I agree except for one thing. I feel Google has updated some sites PR across datacenters, but are paused for some reason. They might be having a problem and are waiting to fix it before moving it along.

    Col :)

yeah. i agree with will. Some of the internal pages created in 1st week of july showing PR 0, they are under calculations process. But some of the latest ones dont have a PR. so it seems they already taken the snapshot and currently calculating the PR.
