As we all know there are alot of directories that offer sitewide listings which is great for other directory owners as this provides us with 100% relevant backlinks. However, I have noticed that alot of directories that do offer sitewides tend to stop allowing anymore sitewides at some very odd numbers. Here is my thought if you are going push sitewides on your directory. Find a solid number and stick to it, do not stop on odd numbers link 8 or 16. It is better that you go with a number link 5, 10, 15, 20 and so forth, increments of 5 in other words. Now of course I can not tell directory owners how to run their advertising but these are just things I noticed on directories which offer sitewides. Those who do offer sitewides, do you have a certain number that you stop at? If so why do you stop at that number?
I would say anyone should stop at 20 links which seems to be a decent number of out bound links from a website and this maintains internal pages PR passing too.
I set my sitewides high enough in price to get mystikmedia away; hence, no sitewides When I encounter odd type numbers on directories, it just gives off the impression that they did/do it for a reason to squeeze a few more dollars out of their directory. /me shrugs though..
On one of my directories im offering 10 static sidewide spaces, the reason for that number, it wont look messy, it wont start stretching the page length out of proportion.
You know if your pricing is too high for mystikmedia, then you won't have any sitewides. Nice An0n. I believe the odd number is weird, but that is just me!
Yep, think of a number and stick to it LinkLister 10 Zippy 5 You may notice there's 11 outbound links on LinkLister but one's a required reciprocal with nofollow. Why these numbers? Decided 10 was too many so cut it down.
Lol mate--r u targetting me? My number is 15. But had to let in two more. what I am arranging is to remove 2 of my links--preety quickly. But pls allow me some time. I have already set a very high price accroding to the traffic I am receiving and I did First Information Report (FIR) to most of my Sponsors. The prices will be effective from 1st September. There is change if layout also --so I expect to have only 15 Sponsors (including my own network) from 2nd September onwards. Hope you understand it. At present my OBL is 17--but the figure will change soon.
I am in the proccess of trying to reduce some of my site-wides, hence that might be the reason for some odd numbers. Sometimes you also might have one or two expiring soon but you have someone make a multi-site link purchase so you go over your max for a few weeks. I guess there are lots of different reasons and some of them might be, as an0n says to "squeeze a few more dollars"
In some of my directories, I'm going to start selling site-wide links soon. I always thought outbound links on home page should be less than 10. So, I like the number 10 I guess
Well, in all honesty, I actually asked chris what he felt was too high 'to him'. So I took that and then tacked on something additional hahaha... otherwise I know he would grab them.
I guess one of the good things about folks looking to rely less on page rank is directories can have more site-wides because people won't worry so much about the spread of PR-juice. I have read on more than one occasion that Goooogle does not like more than 50 outbounds per page, but I also see some directories ranking very high in SERPS with lots of site-wides, so who really knows.
In mine directories some sitewides expiring this month. And will set all at 20 including mine. Some already have expired. Pricing also will change and will advice some. There are already reserves but I have not confirm it to them till the expiration.
Nobody knows how many sitewides/outbound links google is happy with. Keep it under 50 and you should be fine. People have strange odd numbers as they cannot manage to sell all spaces/constantly try to reduce the number each month
l dont do any sitewide link sells, but l do link exchanges in 2 or 3 ways. presently l have less than 5 sitewide links but l am looking for kind friends who can do 3 way link exchanges with my web directories.. l think the highest sitewide should be around less than 10.
I'm just saying that if you do go over the number that you had set in mind then you may as well accept a few more in order to make numbers even.
in my opinion anyone who has sitewide links on their directory is devaluing every listing in their directory.
I usually offer 5 sponsor ads with a description and 5 url links by that I mean it looks like this Top Bid Web Directory for 10 tops
