hey as some of you may know, my last design for quiteproxy.net now formats strangely on the internet, and after much deliberation i have decided to get a new design all together which is simpler in the code, so less likely to go wrong. The new design is not finished, but what do you think? http://quiteproxy.net/new/ how could it be improved before i duplicate it for all the other pages? any other pointers/tips/errors?! thanks in advance - any helpful suggestions may deserve a green rep
Wow, this is much better looking! I rather like the magenta-ish red that's on the top of the page more than the Barbie pink on the bottom, but that's pure opinion. Here <p class="block">If your not sure, just read on:</p> <p class="block">A proxy site is quite simple, you can see a few examples on the bottom right of this page... </p> Code (markup): you could put a br between the two instead of <p class=... twice but that's nothing. Also, it's generally accepted that you use h1 only once, and first, but I can see why you used h2 first and then h1... to make different font sizes (you should do this with font-size... you could have the first two lines both being called h1 and one a larger font than another, since the first two lines are kinda your page title). h1 keeps coming back up throughout the page and that's generally bad form, especially for people using screen readers, which treat h1 as a main page header, and h2 as sub headers, etc... but these are small things, easily changed. Is your title image supposed to say QuiteProxv instead of Proxy? Looks nice on my browser (FF1.5).
sorry which magenta and barbie pink are you talking about?! isnt it all the same colour :S? i will rethink the use of h1 tags then, and use the font size instead. my image is sposed to be quite proxy, it turned out liek that as i did it using an online image generator, as my copy of photoshop wont install on my vista machine (and adobe help is non existant)
looks good, and alot better than the old one. My advice to you is try doing some photoshop cs tutorials to improve your skills and you will be good enough to do templates like me.
Ach, yeah that was my monitor, the pinks are all the same... you're using #FF0066 and I thought the top was #E71067 which is pretty pretty. I'll see what I can do with your logo.
Okay, I've redone your logo but photobucket's being a bitch. I can't load them direct from my computer, I don't think. I made two versions, one where the shadow/reflection is a bit further away form the letters to accomodate the Y's tail, and another where I only changed the Y. Okay they're back online. Version 1 http://s34.photobucket.com/albums/d136/schroedingerscat/?action=view¤t=logo2.png Version 2 http://s34.photobucket.com/albums/d136/schroedingerscat/?action=view¤t=logo3.png They're not beautiful but they at least say "proxy" : )
haha thanks so much, they are beautiful!! will upload them in a bit, but downloaded them onto my laptop thankyou!!
The new site looks way better than the first one even if you didn't design the second but in the second one you can see everything better and clearer than how it was on the hold site especially at the bottom where it ask if you want a proxy site setted up, the only way for you to see it is if you highlight it.
that was because the old site formatted very incorrectly once uploaded. glad everyone prefers the new design. is the right nav too many links at once? whats my adsense placement like?
I think it would also help to have the "Notify me of new proxies.." button along the input of the email field with some padding. I mean something like this and this will also go with the other two columns: /www.imagehosting.com/show.php/1032581_email.jpg.html
you mean with the border aswell to attract users attention to it?! i put it underneath previously as it fits better with a lower res screen (as the website is fluid) especially in internet explorer, the button is even wider?!
Also I noticed that the "Notify me of new proxies.." button at the top overlaps the logo at 800*600 size. [you can check different resoultions using the dev toolbar for ie.]
