Hello, What do you think I should do to improve this website (making less than 2 dollars/day) Id like to hit the 5 dollar/day mark if possible. I realize i haven't updated the site in a long time, but is there anything else I can do to improve? http://www.largemouthbasstips.com thank you
Yeas it looks quite profesional, definitely doesnt look cheat , ps i love fishing , specially Carps and Pikes nice site mate !
I would position a blended ad block at the top left or top right of the main article copy, style the article font to match the site and find a fishing/hunting related affiliate (ie Basspro, Cabellas) to diversify the opportunity a bit and at the same time add a bit more color to the page(affiliate banners). Content Are the articles unique (IE did you write them) - make surethe content is uniqeu and not reused, if its not unique at the very least you should rewrite the articles - flip flop sentances and paragraphs, sustitute words, put things into your own words (that kind of thing) at minimum. Add content - little by little - 1 article a month would be my minimum. If you're at a complete loss for content ideas - check out a few related blogs that have unique content and write around them. Take an excerpt from each of 3-4 related articles as quotes and comment around their content. Make sure not to pull more than a sentance or 2 at most, make sure that it's an obvious quote from another source and make sure to link to the original article/site (or reference it if its a print/tv source) Syndicate your content it looks like the site might be homemade (as opposed to CMS driven) thats unfortunate since it means that syndicating your content is exponentially more difficult - manually develop an XML feed of you content and modify it to include your latest article each time (a hassle) Share your content Integrate social bookmarking, 'bookmark this page' and 'email a friend' functionality into your layout to encourage readers to share your content with other enthusiests Linkbaiting your content Pictures: Find crazy pictures of fish, huge fish, press shots of popular sports fishemen, or even use photoshop to make funny pictures - bass swollowing a fisherman, bass approaching the bottom of a boat (ie Jaws) Video: find funny fishing related videos on you tube (like the guy that keeps falling out of the boat) write a little something about them or a related experience and share them with your readers Jokes: Know any fishing related jokes - put them up - then drop a mention in a relevant forum/blog with a link to the site (where its appropriate and no spammy)
I would re-open the forum and work on adding content there. I agree with adding lots of pictures. You might even consider hosting them as a slideshow on your homepage. It's been a popular addition to my site.
thank you for the comments and tips guys, I will soon start making some changes. Id like to start the forum but it gets so spammy i cannot fix it. even when i do the updates I still get spam, and doing the updates can sometimes be a p.i.t.a. ive pretty much written down all the important information that i know about bass fishing, so its a little hard to keep adding useful content without repeating myself. The other information just comes from practice. Im thinking about adding a blog section, so i can take pictures and talk about my fishing trips (i fish once a week so it would add lots of content to the site) would that be a good idea? and YES 90% of the articles are unique. Written by me.
Nice site there, please feel free to add your fishing site to www.ourfishingdirectory.com - for free. I posted here as we only accept fishing links and you will get some free traffic from us!
