BTW, I didn't design it, nor is that my site.

Just wanted to make that clear ;)

That's Nick La's website from N.Design Studio. He's a well known and very talented designer. I like his style.

It's a unique design, but I'm not so interested in the colors.

Needs a good coder and image optimizer though - the rollovers are twitchy as hell, it's almost half a meg... dialup users are going to curse it to the ninth ring of hell, and it's overburdened with 88k of javascript in 12 files for no actual functionality I can see.

But it is very pretty, in a get kicked out of the St. Patty's day parade in Boston kind of way.

Oh wait, it's a turdpress template - that explains a lot, and DOES impress me they were able to bend it that much.

That's gorgeous! I can't imagine how frustrating the tracing technique would be though. Certainly something I'd never have the patience for. :p

It's following a current trend. That art style has been on the cover of digital and photoshop deisgn style magazines for months.

I think the actual web design is messy and loud. Sure, there is a visual impact, but we are talking design, and this site lacks it. It lacks style.

Good web design is simple, bold, and intuitive.
    Example: http://www.apple.com

I'm not a MAC Fanboy, but that site displays simplicity in navigation. The page has balance and makes great use of whitespace.

The example listed in this thread is messy, confusing, and lacks structure. "Random" and "spontaneous" are fun, but lack what is required for good design. On this genre of sites, I have seen better examples.

I don't like it as a website, maybe as 'abstract art' it would be good.....

Whitespace is nice if that's what your company or product is. Goes with the iMac fine... would go well with a sterile medical-equipment maker as well.

The vectored flower-flows from the 70's has been a Coke (coca-cola.com before the latest version which uses rainbow splatters rather than curlies and swirlies) design style for at least a few years, not to mention HP ads and iPod ads...

    Turdpress.... gold.

That apple site reminds me of a doctors waiting room - functional and comfortable but certainly not exciting.

The apple site could have that "Time to un-pimp ze auto" Volkwagon guy who dresses in white.

well, whatever people say about the design - it's got us talking about it, which is what good and challenging design should do.

to be honest, how many sites do people post up in these forums that solicits such a response :)

Anyone can post a site and get a response from it. That's what a forum is all about - discussion. Negative vs positive.

If I said my site was the best ever, some people might say its nice and others say its rubbish. With thousands of members, I'm bound to get a few postings of comments about it.

    :p

I don't think its a great design. Its nothing new. This sort of thing has been done over and over again.

As a piece of art I love it but I think it really only suites a very certain niche

A great design, but probably not the best in the world; great none the less! Reminds me of the Mika album cover...

...i quite like the header section over at http://photomatt.net/ very imaginative!!!
