    Good information infogle.
I'm sat here with my BL-5C battery and serial number but I can't get the Nokia site to check if mine's one of the dodgy ones. Guess they're snowed under with requests.

I have posted the link to nokia just visit the link and read the information and verify your battery... How to verify is also explained on the page. Just visit the following:

    http://www.nokia.com/batteryreplacement/en/

Try to 2-3 times if page not loads at once because due to huge traffic it must be taking time to load...

    Hope this helps...

Lucky me - I got one of the exploding batteries. They say they'll send me a replacement and I have to return the old one to them.

Guess I'm not talking on my mobile until the new one arrives.

You said they are going to replace one of your batteries..Is the battery made in JAPAN.. I heard that those made in Japan are of risk and that those made in china don't have problems..

And thanks to infogle for the information..:)

Well, that's the curious thing - my battery actually says 'Made in China' on the back of it. When I put in the 26 character serial number it came up as a bad 'un. I guess they'll know. Still not had my replacement yet.

Thanks for that info.. now, I do believe that those made in china are also of the same risk.. the only confirmation is through their website..

Also.. Some people have informed me that you can check the battery's manufactured date by dialing *#0000# but its not true.. Your battery can be manufactured earlier than the date given in that information..I checked this myself by putting different batteries in the mobile and they all give the same date which confirms that it is giving the manufactured date for the mobile and not the battery..
