There's no straight answer how much you need to spend. Depends on keywords you want to bid, quality of your site, conversion rate etc.

Depends on how many visitors you want, better of to do some experimenting first to see how many clicks you get, the cost of them and the rate of conversions.

yes be very selective in choosing your keywords and have a fixed budget in mind.Other wise you would be paying $xxx in a months time without any orders

Here is my advice. You need to be very careful on the keywords you select or you will be spending a lot more for traffic than you need to and it will not have a very high quality to it. You want to pick very targetted keywords because if you use broad terms you will end up running up a huge bill and will see very little results. for example - broad "build links" targetted "build back links to improve your ranking". You won't have to bid as high for the targetted keywords and you won't get as much traffic, but your traffic will be very targetted and will convert at a much higher rate than if you use broad keywords.

Don't make the most common beginner mistake with traffic. Traffic is necessary, but it is not the amount of traffic you get, it is the quality of conversions you get from your traffic. It is better to get 1,000 visitors a month and convert 600 of them to sales, member, etc, then to get 10,000 a month and convert 100 of them. You will save more money with targetted traffic and you will have higher conversions as well.

    Good luck!

Do the keywords research, that's one of the most important part of adwords, make ad variations and monitor your campaign, just try to make conversions for the clicks instead of irrelevant clicks.
