I have a powerful new laptop with all the bells and whistles. However, Vista makes it run pretty slow at times. I am almost thinking of scrapping Vista and need to know if this can be done.......Load a Mac Os on there??? Anyone done this? Or is Linux the better option? Col
Vista is a huge OS and a complete system pig. I have run XP Pro for about 4 years without a single crash and all of my programs work perfectly. The new Vista look is eye catching but the crashes, system errors, memory glut, and slow boot time blows. I have absolutely no idea why anyone really would ever update intentionally to Vista just for the flashy look. A buddy of mine that works at MS here in WA said that they are already working on a new OS because Vista isn't selling like they thought it would. I'll stick with XP Pro. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
I haven't tried Vista yet, but in the early stages it had lots of bugs etc, heard it is almost bugfree now. Meti
better to wait untill Sp1 comes up ... I keep getting complain from customer when they buy Vista.. mostly is hardware compatibility.. so better wait patiently, Next Couple years Mikisoft eventually will stop supporting XP and people will have no choice to migrate to Vista... thats just how Mikisoft Play the game, lets enjoy XP while we can.. .
Well here's a news flash for you Before XP was completed they were working on another OS. Same deal with Vista as well not surprising there. From my experience with vista I've seen 0 crashes, a few system errors. The system errors you can see in XP to if you try hard enough. Although I'm not sure what your definition of a system error is either. The only real issue at hand is hardware drivers from some vendors. They've dragged their asses just like they did when XP was released. So creative not releasing working drivers seems to be the norm. Numerous printer drivers not released at vista release date but rather months later. I don't know though seems every new windows OS released is all soo horrible no one is going to use it they're working on the next one. If this was actually true I'm sure we'd be saying windows 95 is good enough. Or maybe even further back then that I'm not sure when exactly people claimed which windows version was the end all of home operating systems.
You would think Microsoft would learn from this expierance of not making there OS such a hog. They won't next version will require more hardware resource.
Run Xp for 4 years with no Crash its almost IMPOSSIBLE unless u never use you PC . Seriously..... I use Vista Biz on my Asus notebook because its comes up with it, and if I want to use Xp I have to search each individual drivers which kind of annoying.... and There is no XP driver in New Asus Notebook (even in ASUS site)
yes i would wait intill sp1 comes of for vista then it should work???? better. Yes you should be able to formate you laptop to but on xp pro or home and yes you should also be able to a Linux os and you can see if all going to work before you to your computer with the live CD also i would use ubuntu if you want to try Liunx but make sure you have a working copy of windows xp so if you cant get on with Liunx you can go back to windows. also for MAC you have to make sure that all the Hardware will work with MAC before you try and add MAC. This why MAC is good you now its going to work with out any problems. if you want any more help let me now you can pm if you wish
I don't know why everyone hates Vista, my PC is custom built and first ran XP. Worked fine like it should do, installed Vista, it runs better, smoother and no freezes at all. The only problem with Vista is the auto update....it fails nearly every one so it cant install the update which is meant to fix the update. So yeah. Vista isn't a hog, it works fine, and uses on my pc the same amount as XP does. My verdict is the hardware in the machine.
I have recently bought Acer Aspire 5583 it has 512 mb ram, XP runs cool on it. but vista dosen't so I am planning to upgrade my ram by adding 1 GB stick to it.. That should do ;-) ..:: peace ::.. Jeba
It took me 5 hours to configure my internet on Vista becasue I had to switch and remove a bunch of settings and download patches at the Amazing speed of like 500 bytes a second (thanks Vista). Afterwards it worked well, it's also quite colorful. But Xp is reliable an homely, I know my way around and I know it's limitations and I'm happy with them.
Vista came pre-installed on the HP notebook I just bought. At first I wanted XP because I was familiar with it and was a little scared of Vista's reputation for bloat and draconian DRM. I must say that I'm quite happy with the good compatibility and speed that Vista provides. The verdict is still out on the DRM issues, as I haven't had it long enough to have it mess with my mp3s.
because its slow, slow slow and incompatible. my wife bought a new dell, dualcore2 with 2gb of ram.. with vista home.. OMG.. vista was so slow. i could not believe it. formatted the drive and installed illigal version of XP. yeah, i'm not going to pay another 300 dollars for a XP licence while i was forced to buy vista with the machine.. I'm so tired of this microsoft bullsh*t that i actually went to look for another operating system... Never been happier since.
Well vista keeps crashing for me, But then goes back to normal which is a plus as XP does not restore itself when a not responding occurs, I have Vista and XP, I have XP with a vista theme aswell.. Look: img530.imageshack.us/my.php?image=untitledju8.png
I like windows vista. but it eats more hardware requirements particularly memory. So, I switched back to XP
img530.imageshack.us/my.php?image=untitledju8.png This is why people should get the Vista theme... It looks good.. Windows XP powered Vista..
