instead of using xamp wamp u can install apache webserver - php - mysql separately and change the settings o use....then install wordpress....but it'll take a lot of time...and needs many settings to be changed....but u can learn things..doing it..i did it last yr.

If you are total noob to blogging maybe signing up for a blog at wordpress.com would be a better option for you..
BTW ...i think uglyboy is right...maybe the best thing for you at this moment is having a ready made solution. Play with that and after you are comfy with it all extend to having your own envirmont
