Hello Dealhack.com is a site I want to base my next site off of. How does this site make money through affiliate programs? Is there one central affiliate program it works through (like shopping.com) or does the site just promote various offers through affiliate companies (like azoogle and CJ). I just want to know how dealhack monetizes their traffic. Thanks!
usually you just get feeds from shopping.com or cj.com cj is a lot easier. Then you just parse them out. Overstock does this also
shoe, I'm on this forum because of you recommend it I've heard you complain about CJ on the shoemoney show. Is it really that bad? Do they have a nice API to mess around with too (because I know shopping does) Also, do you know. by chance, how JohnChow's hotdeal page on thetechzone gets its deals from? Thanks!
im not familiar with johnchows site but most deal sites are manually done. They can be really lucrative. CJ's weakest links are there reporting and they give way to much power to the companies but at the same time for some stuff they are a necessary evil.
Deal sites are very profitable, but the problem is most people already have their favorite deal websites picked out and you must update it constantly. Because deals can come and go in just a few minutes, you really need to be on the ball.
It seems like it would be possible to write a script which takes the posts from the front page of slickdeals.net or fatwallet. Is that even possible?
It probably would be possible, but it would be copyright infringement and I wouldn't expect the sites to go along with it. They would probably block your script and contact their attorneys. I have a deals website, dealfiesta.com, which displays RSS feeds from 4 of the big tech deal websites.
Yeah, so I want to do something like your dealfiesta, but I actually want to get commission perclick or peraction for sending traffic to the deals. that is what i want to know how to do.
