DirectoryRater.com Needs Help!

    All,

I am looking for some helpful advice on a new domain I recently obtained.

    DirectoryRater.com

There is no link here because the website does not exist and this is where I need advice. I already have several directories and want to see if there are some quality ideas on a positive direction to go with this domain and how to maximize the domain's effectiveness.

I guess the question is: What is the best course of action for a Directory Rater website?

    Script? Supporting Mods? Etc?

    Thanks guys.

Your best shot..IMO... would be to create an "All inclusive" directories site. Meaning create a directory of directories as well as a directory related resource including info about mods, scripts, and such. That's kinda "off the cuff" and you have some stiff competition, but with the domain...it seems your options are somewhat limited:)

Also, consider putting the directory in a sub directory and then create a homepage that showcases all features and info.

    Good luck with your site!

    Hello..

did you pay alot for this domain? just curious.. :)

I purchased a few domains myself  today from Go-Daddy
and was surprised that NOW some domains are considered
"Premium Domains" and can go for as high as $2600

Its not bad... i guess id build a tool or something maybe..
I guess you would be rating directories :)

    thx

I appreciate the input guys. I actually picked this up at the expired domain auction at Godaddy. I didn't pay that kind of price, but I thought as far as Directory Marketing goes, its a solid investment.

I am already working on a 3 pronged Directory system which includes; BacklinkPartner.com, BacklinkForum.com, and BacklinkAuction.com

I was looking for a Directory of Directories sort of site to add to the mix and found it with this domain.

The only site of the 3 that is currently live is the BacklinkAuction.com site.

Yea, well alot of the directory owners hate me here cause I'm a hard core programmer and can put any feature I want in my directory.

I would recommend that you make a directory review site where you perhaps give ratings for directories on a number of factors.

Yep. I agree. Then have those factor ratings sorted (clickable) so your customers can see a set of 10 star rating directories for a given factor......Hmmmm...why didn't I think of this for myself???

    Col :)

    Thanks man,

Let me give u a rundown of ur domain.

Directory ---- > direct, no discrepencies

    Rater -----> direct, no discrepencies

    Now you've got the word

    DirectoryRater

    Some variations, DirectoryRatings, RatedDirectories

Didn't check if there available or not.

You can have any kind of directory resource on that domain, but should definately have some kind of mechanism which provides some kind of ratings, reviews, feedback etc for directories.

Could be in a form of blog posts, web 2.0 or even static content which gives the browser what he came to the site for.

All very good ideas. I really appreciate the feedback. I am leaning towards a Web 2.0 solution. Something different, yet valuable for directory owners.
