Site background: Pr3 + 6 month old site Initial Ranking- Main keyword: #21 (20,000 counts according to KD, 5m results) on Google, Second keyword: #13 (3,xxx counts, 2m results) on Google, Anchor text going to use (1x count): Nowhere in Google 2 PR6 links (One is weakly related to my theme and the other is totally unrelated) and 1 PR5 links (. I saw change the day after the link was added, and Ranking after a week- Main Keyword: #6 Second Keyword: #3 Anchor text: #1 Conclusion: I am not sure how long it will stay on that position, maybe I will update this thread after 2-3 months to see how high quality link from unrelated theme will help.
It is almost a week after my first post, here is the update: Main Keyword: #11 Second Keyword: #7 Anchor text: #1 Both the main keyword and my second keyword has dropped a few position. But the traffic from Google remains the same because I am now getting a lot more traffic from "long tail keyword". Traffic per week has increased for almost 100% after I bought the link (and so do adsense income). So far I think it is a pretty good investment. We will still have to wait for a couple of months to see how the "actual result" is, but now I am getting more and more confident that irrelevant link may also be helpful (not necessarily in terms of SERP, but the total traffic as a whole, as you can also benefit from the long tail keyword).
Well I am sure it will keep help long tail keywords and innepages as you "Wash" the link juice on the main page before sending it on to the sub pages.
This is almost a month since I bought the link: Main Keyword: #21 --> #11 --> #7 Second Keyword: #13 ---> #7 --> #4 Anchor text: Nowhere --> #1 -->#1 This is the first time (a steady one, not the google dance) I have my main keyword on the first page and I am glad to see the traffic was almost 5 times of the traffic before I bought the links (and it is very steady). Chances are my site won't rank any higher in the future because the #5 site is wikipedia and #1-4 are very well known site and gov site. Here is another result I found interesting: Usually when you use technique like Article submission to help boost the SERP of the "inner page", you don't see much effort. It is rare to see article submission will help your ranking except the keyword is a logintail one with very little competition. But out of my surprise, a few inner pages in which I do nothing but article submission are ranking from #10 -#17 in Google (medium competition, definitely not longtail keyword). It seems that when you have a few quality link to your index page (and you have good internal linking structure), article submission can also be helpful.
Interesting information, thank you for sharing. I would not have predicated that so few links would have made such a difference. Have you been gaining many other new links over the last month, which might have helped hold the new higher positions? or is this all riding off those initial new links?
I think that "related" links become important when a website is "fighting" with 3-4 millions other pages not with 100-200.000 because there are just a few which are optimized. Congrats for your positioning.
Yea true. Related link is very important when the keyword is very competitive. But as stated in the first post, my main kw has "20,000 counts according to KD, 5m results in Google". I won't say it is super competitive, but it is still kinda competitive. I will keep you guys updated about the result.
A little bit more info: This is a six month old site from a plr membership site. I have used 10 of the articles + 40 - 50 articles written by my writers. So basically it is a site between MFA and a high quality site. Regarding the link building, here is what I have done: 1) December 06: Article submission (8-10 articles), directory submission, social bookmark. 2) March 07: Forum posting, link exchange, high quality directory, blog, site submission. (#21 on Google after that for a long time) 4) Buy a few links (Even though they are not related link, they are of high quality) as stated on the first post ---> Traffic was now 5 times the traffic before and revenue is almost 10X (adsense). I don't know how much it helps to you guys, and I doubt if it will work so well on other more competitive niche. Try to test it out and see what the result is, and post it here if you want.
I am certainly not surprised about the helpfulness of Article Submissions!! Congratulations! Job well done!
