You sell links for about 10$ a months, (on a small to medium size site).
The better your site is doing the more you can charge.

Some sites charge $200 per months, per link, per pages.

At first it is very slow and you might not sell anything for a while.
But eventually you will start to sell links.

On a PR5+ you could do rather well.

They use a script, (in various languages), to automate the whole process.

They pay once a month in paypal account.

You can sell at DP Buy Sell section also.
Text-Link-Ads is good from my experience. Recommend them.

I use them for one of my sites and make about $150 a month. It's super easy to implement, but you can actually do a lot better if you make deals directly with advertisers. (They take a 50% cut.) If you have a popular site, merchants will be excited to work directly with you.

The ads are added to the page server side, so Google does not even know that you have an account with them.

Yes, and if you have a strong site then you are likely to make more from a single link than you would from Google, (on one page).

Once your site is really doing well then you can start charging directly rather than having to deal with Text-link-ads.
I always thought that their fees were very high given what they actually do.

I agree, I wonder if there is another similar service with a more reasonable percentage.
50% is too much, maybe 10-20% at the most.

Before applying to TLA, if possible improve your alexa or Technorati ranks. You will get a much much better price.

TLA take in account these factors. If you apply on low rankings you will find most of your inventory sold out for lower prices for a longer period, and even if your these rankings improve in future, you will still be getting lower prices on basis of older rankings.

But you have to figure out how many months you can afford to not monetize your site.

There is one upside too, god forbid if your site got booted from google or your alexa rankings drop, you will find your site still getting you money because of longer period deals on TLA.

Techcrunch.com (pagerank 8) uses TextLinkAds.com and openly mentions this in their blog posts now and then. They also use Google Adsense.

Generally speaking, google doesn't like any paid links.

    --

It's true that they take 50% cut, but they also have a large inventory and automated sales system (so you don't need to spend time finding buyers).

It's worth reminding that TLA also has a good affiliate program. You get $25 for each referred publisher (or client).
