big web links deserves an authority status more than any other site! and i guess in comming updates it will sure become an authority site!
How much do you know about the authority status. Its when a site becomes a monopoly or when its the best in its niche. So i guess google would have to manually review it and decide if it was better than other bidding directories.
Actually The bid directory Idea was copied from sites like this http://www.kingofthebill.com Basically the same concept, but with the king you stay longer, The bid directory phase will never die, As long as directory owner keep building quality directories the people will come, Its all about quality - not the phase. Most people that get into business never realize that.... I mean the "hot dog" was a phase at first until oscar meyer came around
honestly, no one knows much about the authority status! it is still mystery! there are a lot of factors! there are about 20+ authority web directory arround, so monopoly is sure not a factor! best in the niche, may be possible!
hmm, my college website has authority status, and barely shows any backlinks in google using link: its really strange.
Personally, I think there is very little value in these types of sites. Also, some of the bidding sites that uses letters instead of categories, yields very little results. Why pay $3k on a homepage link, instead of spending $3k on template sponsoring, dir submissions, blog posts, and article creation. I just don't understand. Personally a lot of the money gets what I like to call "industry transfered" where the major sponsors are competing websites. Then on those websites, more competitors are sponsoring. Just a though.
One of the main problems I have with bidding directories is that the main script that everyone is using only offers one level of categorisation. I understand this will be fixed with the next release, but in the meantime it doesn't offer much in the way of theming. And some are using letters instead of categories, which is even worse. Although some bidding directories offer a minimum bid of $0, the majority of links are always paid, and most do not offer much in the way of categorisation. So if a search engine wanted to single out bidding directories and penalise them for offering paid links it would be very easy, because the vast majority are using a common script.
-Agreed. My point however, that not all lb directories haven't any future but that the QBC's are messing the market with their dirs. When I see that every directory thread is a bidding directory, with the same template, with a dropped domain, and with the same script not even bothered to change the initial footer, and with bids of 20-30$/link gets me really surprised.
My, oh my! Do bidding directories send that kind of traffic to their clients? If so, I'd appreciate knowing the names of a few of those bidding directories.
I think it's the same as any site, those that don't invest will see their bids dry up and they will not last. Those that invest $$$ and effort will flourish.
As a bidding directory owner, nobody gets more mad than me. Probably these people are the reason i have 9 infraction points and nearly get myself banned because i got mad with them in a thread I agree, using letters is a lot more unprofessional. The next release will see sub categories which may alter peoples opinion of them. If people actually spent the time customising their directory instead of leaving everything at the default settings, google wouldnt be able to do this. Send me a PM if interested. Steve's right. its the same as normal directories. Those who invest see results. Those who dont invest and wonder why their top bid is $4 end up deleting the site. It will never change.
