Hey guys, Firstly, I mean no offense for those people who own bid for position sites. That's a great idea, and the well-promoted sites well deserve their earnings. However, people pay way too much to get into dirs. I saw bids up to 200$ on LB sites I never heard before, and I am on webmaster related sites 12 hours per day. The same wave, had been the keyword directories. Where are they now? There don't exist any. Why do I say they are temporary? Because of the QBC's. After a while, no one is going to trust a new bid directory. It's not an anti-bid directory thread, I just want to know what's so special in these dirs. The following question: Why do I pay 200$ to get listed on a site when I can pay that amount to get listed in at least 6 premium authority directories.
www.bigweblinks.com Things go a lot higher than $200. Keyword sites(word clouds) are pure link selling spam farms. They were always doomed. There is nothing wrong with bidding directories. QBCs make paid directories. People still use them. Would a premium directory send you 50 visitors a day?
The market is too young to write off and at this point in development any mention of 'temporary wave' is at best premature, and at worst not even a consideration Lets move away from negativity and look at positivity and in no order of preference these few sites are exempt already from any connection to your OP http://www.webdirectorybid.com/ http://www.bigweblinks.com/ etc etc Why because they bring in the single and only key to getting business which is traffic and lots of it
Firstly, regarding the traffic. Mikey1090, do you really think that traffic is targeted? I visit some sites which are on top just on pure interest, and never come back on them. I am not talking about all bidding directories, such as BigWebLinks or WebDirectoryBid. But when I see a directory with the default phplb template having bids over 200$, makes me feel really surprised.
Who visits web directories? Users looking for interesting sites, and webmasters looking for backlinks. so if a visitor like this visits a bidding directory, and they see another web directory rank 1, it is likely to suit their needs. Thats why you only ever see bidding directories and paid directories at the top, unless its a dropped domain and they are allowing spammy casino sites to bid high....
Word cloud or 'keyword' sites were inherentlyflawed from the start because they were a single page of unrelated words, they had no point other than to provide a link, so they were link-farms, no question about it. Link bid directories are simply link directories that offer an extra way of getting additional promotion by paying for the highest postition which gets you on the home page (or front category page) and more exposure. If gooogle somehow decides to penalize all bid directories (which is doubtful, I see lots of word cloud sites with PR) then most will disappear but the really strong ones will stay for a long-time regardless.
Ask 10 random people on the street what their favorite bidding directory is. Decipher what the blank looks mean
Yes some people do visit directories I see a great future for some bid directories which cater to specific category.
people are missing something with bid directories just because you need $200 for a home page listings does not mean you have to pay the $200 chances are you can get a page 2,3 or 4 listing for less than $5 and considering on most web directories your link will be 2 or 3 pages from the main page bid directories offer great value for your money
unfortunately dave, people think bidding directories are not normal web directories. its ok to submit to a normal directory end up 3 categories deep on page 2, and costs $25, but you can't possibly pay $1-$5 and get listed on page 1 of the first category in a bidding directory, and get deep links. 1 day people will wake up, smell the bacon and wish they had breeded some pigs of their own.
well thats what we need to change people need to see them as more than just a bidding war and more as a directory
Even worse is when people think bidding directories will be banned from google. If people didnt have "buy a link" on them, people may not say things like this. And then the noobs who triple bids etc also make a mockery of the market.
well this pr update will hopefully get rid of a lot of the crap currently around and leave us that know what we are doing to do what we do best
Unfortunately you are wrong Dave. PR update is good and bad The PR update will set PR0 for all the bidding directories on spammy dropped domains which is good. PR will keep PR5 domains at PR5, they will get sold on DP and turned into bidding directory link farms. No brand, no proper domain, no custom theme etc i could carry on all day. People have stopped getting word cloud script but on a dropped domain to make a quick buck, as people hate word clouds. So now they put phpLB on the dropped domain as people will more likely buy. It makes bidding directory owners like me and you look almost as bad as them. Thats why i'm doing everything under the sun to prevent myself from looking anything like them and their bad practices.
I think an increased PR ranks you well in SERP's and gets you tons of SE Traffic, that's what i've experienced so far, although promotion and Advertisments are the main traffic source but a good PR also ranks you way high above in SE and they bring tons of traffic. PR is a factor for Bid Directories too IMO else, Big Web Links and Web Directory Bid won't be having so high bids on there homepage.
If you want the traffic, you will have to pay the price! but you can get a category listing as low as $1!! on my bidding directory the minimum ammount is $3 and it is a permanant link, and there are deep links also. A home page listing on a bidding directory gives huge traffic! that's why people prefer these directories, it is a lot better than a adword listing! About the pr! well pr is a non-event arround the bidding web directories say you get into an authority directory, the category listings will have websites of pr5 up to 5 pages deep. but then on bidding directory if you have a pr0 website, you can stay on the home page and enjoy the traffic!! cheers!
They are, but PR gets abused with QBC dropped domains. So he means when PR gets updated the QBC sites will turn PR0. I think people bid for the intense daily traffic more than the PR7 (why pay $1000 for PR7, you could pay $200) Can you imagine if a bidding directory got authority status? That would be great. Traffic and powerful backlinks. The ultimate web directory
