I'm starting an RPG site soon and have two questions.

    1. What would be the best way to advertise it, I was playing on using google adwords as well as submitting the site to tons of RPG directories. And of course submitting to tons of search engines.

    2. What would be the best ad place to earn revenue from. I was going to use a CPM publisher place. But should i use google?

    Any help would be great;)

As it's a niche subject you need targeted traffic first and foremost so apart from the RPG directories, any RPG ezines would be good places, and post in RPG forums regularly as well. Offline advertising would be worth looking at too, like magazines.

I'd recommend Google Adsense for the beginning, and if that doesn't work out switch to a CPM program. Google usually pays better, but if you're getting a huge amount of visitors go with a mixture.

I would go with banner advertising, RPG banners tend to have more attractable features on the design page, so if you have a good game, good design, just get a few lurking visitors and you should have a stable community.

you will have trouble keeping cpm ads filled if they don't perform. At the end of the day, advertisers want one thing, ROI, and if you don't give them anything back besides impressions, they wont keep paying you.
