Hello, theres a similiar fantastic thread started by BritishGuy here http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=433012 But it got towed away to an associaton theme, which IMHO is not something i would vouch for, though at the same time i would not be anti it, coz it may just bring additional value here, if started keeping the communities interests first. i fear it being overtaken by commercial and petty interests. Just my 2c ! As a managment student i have a diffrent view to all this, and i wanted to share my views, according to my best logic, you may have a fantastic marketing strategy, but if you dont have a good product,.... u lose! at the same time you may have a fantastic product, but if your marketing strategy sucks, .... u lose again!!! the remedy is tackling both, and i would consider making a product better and then the marketing strategy! (not talking about continous improvement in the product which is never ending) So what do you have in your product / can do in your product (directories) to make it better! (as this would in turn make our industry better!) What added value do you give in your directory (product) to your end customer, may it be the one submitting, or the one browsing! Regards, M.
Thanks for the appreciated support Most contemporary Directory Owners provide a raft of value added services and features that focus on the Review Owner and the potential clients along with browsers But like you quite rightly say both are relevant meaning the product and the market that the product targets Cohesive integration of these 2 elements must be the primary objective
Thanx britishguy, the best anology here i can give is the Mobile industry! essentially it was a part of the telcom sector! NOW.... its bigger than telcom, and has crept into every possible sector, may it be the camera segment, the MP3 market, or simply the computer/ handheld sector! still its essential feature is the phone! its the product which has under gone a gargantuan change,.... taking the industry with itself!
