From my observe, I see PR update on many small sites and new domain that registered between May - Jul 2007. I don't see any changes on my 2-3 years old domains and they are still PR4-5 at this time.

However, This PR thread has reached 200 pages already :D Congrats

With all of the angry webmasters in the world, I am surprised that no one has driven a Ryder truck into the Googleplex yet.

"Hi there, how many i help you"

"i just wondered if you could tell me, as a webmaster, what date google engineers will export the current page rank to the google toolbar"

"sorry, we cant disclose this data" "beeeeep"

    i wouldnt waste my call

perhaps send an email. doubt they would reply.

No. PR is a measure of incoming links. The Google filters affect PR passed via outgoing links.

To the extent that the majority of incoming links are paid links detected by Google, that is true. I suspect that means the scammier/spammier directories will in due course lose PR; the stornger ones with decent "organic" links will not.

You haven't been paying attention, have you? Google has from the beginning discouraged artifical link building schemes and discounted them once detected. What happened this year was merely a stepped up war, not a new initiative.

    Exactly!

And for those of you still holding on desperately to the hope that Google cannot detect paid links, open your eyes. They have been doing that for some time and most of the new breed of annual fee everyone-welcome directories or bidding directories basically scream out "paid link farm". Many of them are making it easy for Google.

In my profession, that is known as BLATANT DENIAL. In other professions, it's known as blind ignorance.

google can easily tell what are paid links. Matt cutts said so in his blog. Links near "parteners" and "sponsors" are thought to be paid

Webmasters are well wise to this and many no longer use terms such as these to describe these links, I like to use 'Recommended' for these types of links... tell me how Google can say for sure someone paid me for them... I might just be recommending them cos i like them...

    1. Links outside of sentences.
    2. Links placed close to other links.
    3. Links to unrelated sites.

Then below the cluster of links you have "Advertise Here" on all 3 sites which in turn goes to an advertise.php URL with text like:

"Just click the subscribe button below for the type of link you wish to buy and be sure to fill out your links details in the 'Message to Seller' PayPal screen when prompted. "

    And:

    "Footer Sponsor Link - $9.95/month"

Yep, masking it with "Recommended" is sure foolin them.
