Ways to advertise your website ???

What are the most effiective ways to advertise your website without having to spend money but rather achieve it by spending time?

e.g. posting your website in related forums

 

Using forums - By creating a forum signature?
Using forums - Posting in DP Free advertising section
Optimizing Web Site - Make your web site Search Engine Friendly for reference (http://optimize.uwantads.com)
Posting on Free Classified Sites (http://www.uwantads.com)
writing articles - posting at least 2 articles a week, either right about your site or any products you are selling.
Exchanging Links - use forums the exchange links with other site that share the same content as your own.

what sites would u submit your articles? ... also how much help would it be if one wrote unrelated (to their site) articles but put links to their website on the PDF document they created?

 

search for it in the google and you will get tons.

 

I use http://www.articlesbase.com/ when posting articles. The answer to your second question is to experiment!

I would say;

1. Traffic Exchanges (manual..not those auto ones)
2. Forums/Articles submission
3. Adwords(if you have the dough)

 

There are over 100 good ways. I write an article on my site the other day which quickly highlighted 45 ways to get traffic where around 42 - 44 of them ways were for getting free traffic.

 

Write articles related to the content on your site and submit to directories. I prefer ezinearticles

 

optimize your site for search engines.
get more incoming links.
you will get free traffic from search engines.

 

Social bookmarking make wonders.

Community participation is the best way to get good repeat visitors IMO.

Social networking is good if you have an active group of friends.

Answer an existing need in the community by writing a free tool or a resource. Then let a few people know about it and you're in business. There are a lot of gaps out there where free or easy to use free tools don't exist.

Blog and ping doesn't do so great IMO, but traffic will trickle in as a result.

Work your site, work your back links, work your content. The rest will come in time.
