Sponsor 50/50 raffles and other drawings at nearby flea markets, fairs & carnivals. It'll get your name out if you say them saying X amount of times in required. Most will gladly swap some ad time for a prize

A site i moderated on had thier URL on a hacked digital traffic billboard in the UK, it made the papers etc. Thier homepage is also features on the Australian Anti-Terrorism poster which is plastered all over national TV, Bus Stops etc.

The write it on money idea is also a good one, it passes through lots of hands and travels everywhere.

writing you domain name on money is a risky affair.

    reference:
The laws are pretty similar in most countries.

Ok, while your at it look up the conviction rates for individuals charged with passing defaced currency (writing) in the last 12 months... And you will see it definately is not a risky affair.

Writing in the marging of money is not considered defacing the money.

A site that relies heavily on the adding of URL on money (not my site) is

    http://www.askgeorge.com

Check that site out I believe he just redesigned it.

You cannot convince me that you're not defacing money by putting your domain name on it (even in the margin).

It's like leaving your name and address in graffiti on a federal car, and once it's there you can't go back and remove it. It can come back an bite you on the a$$ years down the track.

But sure go ahead and do it :)

But here is another idea then.

Transfer $0.01 into a strangers bank account leaving your domain name as the reference. If they check their statement they'll go to your website to see who is sending them money.

make it a habit to use different site analysts that check your site for different things, this ussually causes the script to load your domain to check something and in return will boost your uniques slightly

Many local grocery stores and supermarkets offer a wanted board near their entrance. Make some type of announcement, witty story, or something that would draw attention and place your site address on little pull tabs.

Just don't forget to include the address on the main part in case all the tabs are pulled.

Many small diners have logos on their menus and/or coffee mugs. Look into the cost of sponsoring such ad space... don't forget to visit later and steal a mug (lol)
    ____________
    ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
Get your logo and site name printed off on pencils or ink pens...leave a pen every place you write a check.

    1. Pay a bum or a teenager $20 to stand outside on a busy corner all day long with a placard displaying your domain name.

    2. Invest in some tickets to the Super Bowl just behind the end zone and hold up a huge banner of your domain name every time someone is getting ready to kick a field goal. (At the very least you get a trip to the super bowl)

    3. Write your domain name on every single dollar bill that you come in contact with.

    4. Put $1 for every person linking to your site in a prize bin and draw one winner to get all the prize money. That's what Im doing right now.
