Since about one week, the number of submissions, specially the paid ones dropped drastically. Is it just coincidence or all this happens because of the approaching PR update? Any other directory owners noticed this? I guess during this period people just wait for the update and don't spend much time building links.
Myself being a fairly new directory owner, i still feel virginal to the rises and falls in submissions and anything else that happens, do some of you get rather significant increases in submissions after a pr update? and especially if you previously had no PR on your directories.
I've seen a slow down in the last week or two for my paid directory. Free directory submissions are pretty much unchanged (maybe a slight decrease). I guess it's a combination, PR update, people on holiday etc.. Expecting things to pick up soon..
The PR is what it is irrelevant, well run and promoted Directories are not dependent on that for business Did anybody not tell anyone that when there is a lull or downturn, you increase your marketing to offset and effectively increase your Review submissions PR or other data gathering gimmicks should have no impact on well run businesses
i have not seen any change in the ammount of submission in any of my directory, submissions are pretty much constant!
I don't understand why this should be: surely prices in well-promoted directories will tend to rise after the update, so now is the best time to buy?
Not all the directories will change prices but yeh in some cases it's true to submit now to get good price.
Hello... Its been a little slower then normal but usually you have blank spots threwout the year due to updates or summer or what have not but it always picks back so im not too worried.. Actually this gives us time to do the things weve wanted to do on the network and where always to busy to complete.. thx malcolm
it should be obvious if you find a decrease in submission considering people are waiting for the pr update
I havent seen a lot of change. I have increased my prices and things remained the same. I personally dont submit to a directory before/after a PR update. Unfortunately many webmasters will wait for a directory to get PR before submitting
It's not only the PR of the directory which I was thinking about, it's the PR of the sites of the submitters too. Some submitters maybe just wait during this period to see how their sites will do after the update. And well run and promoted directories are not _totally_ depending on pr, but they still do a lot, specially for the paid inclusions. The truth is many people are still attracted by the PR. And this is normal, specially for the sites with many sub-pages which need good PR to be indexed properly.
Could it be due to the noises being made about the PR being viewed as a non event by Google and the posts on the possible 'Death of PR'
I've been in the directory business for four years now and August is almost always the slowest month. It's summer and most of the northern hemisphere is on vacation. Expect things to pick up in September when school starts and everyone is back at work.
