    Hello Friends,

I don't know what happened to my Windows (Windows XP Server Pack 2 (2006)) but its not installing the Updates. At start up it starts installing Update manager and then ask for its disk. I don't know how to install it. I tried to install it by inserting Windows CD Rom but of no avail. Here is the screen shot of what I am facing.

Let me know if you know whats this. I have Mcafee Antivirus installed on my system. And a virus/trojen attacked some days back and it disabled my AV. I installed Windows again with hope that it will repair any faults but it didn't work. I am facing this problem after that attack. May be that virus/trojen deleted some of the files. I don't know

I think infonote may be right. You should be pointing to the cdrom. You may have to "dig down" into the disk to sind the right files. Good Luck!

I agree with both posters above but want to add that from late 2005, very early 2006 xp cd there may have been an update to the updater.

The updated updater can be downloaded from the MS site. I do think it is required that your version be registed before you can do that.

I just did a fresh install for my wife and under the bulk license version the download was pretty much automatic. On my OEM version I had to register before I could install the updater.

I did this. Nothing happened. Just he said the path is not correct.

Thanks for the suggestions. I think I should format the Win Drive (C:) and install a fresh copy.:(
