Following on from the thread below, do you think that reciprocal linking is now (or shortly will be) a no no? http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=433572
They could make it against the rules or at least enforce a no-follow or ban rule as you're screwing the serps by trading links. You can always do 3-way trades.
Well, if the link is a "vote" for something make sure it is what you'd feel comfy telling google why you have that vote for that term. Yes, 3way is much safer. You might need a new 3rd party site from time to time though.
Same here, I only do recpriprocal links with very strong relevant websites, or directories that are too good to miss out on.
thats gay, you are ripping of your link partners recips are fine but don't do too many like less then 10% of your links, and keep them at least a little related
it is ripping them off - I agree. new to this seo thingie... there's outbound links over most of the site but last weekend I went on a directory binge - I probably ended up with maybe 70-80 reciprocal links on a few pages. At the time I done so with complete niavity to the task at hand It's only a local history site, but I'm engaging in a seo experiment with the thing.
I am not sure why you started another thread when you already said the same topic was an active thread. There is no need to have two threads going regarding the same topic.
Technically it has always been against the rules. Almost every site has done some reciprocal link building. If google banned every site, then their index would be horrible and that wouldn't be good for them.
There is nothing wrong in reciprocal link as long as the content has relevance. Obviously if you have a blog on chess, it doesn't make sense to link to "buy viagra" site
