Have fun! I've been there and done that. Circled the world twice and even lived in New Zealand for a year. It's time for me to see my own country and all it has to offer.

    But again, have fun!

Gotta love the anti-American crowd. If it's not a suicide bombing, they are never happy :D

The good thing about dollar and stock market crashes is that people who vote Bush/Clinton are oblivious of what's going on and will lose their shirts in coming crisis. Sort of a punishment for their voting record
But that's about the only good thing about it that I can think of

first off...Bush and clinton never ran together...you need to fix your post...second...the stock market has not crashed...it is almost DOUBLE what it was during the clinton administration...it rides in waves. The last stock market "crash" was 1987 when the market lost 23% in one day...I have yet to see that happen since. While you are thinking it is punishment for voting whoever you mean into office, I am making smart business decisions. I just moved some of my investments after I found out that I was getting 19% return during the past quarter. I look for it to actually go UP this quarter, despite the ups and downs of the market recently. Fix the world markets, and you will see the US market continue to go up.

It doesn't matter what you say to these people.... all that matters is what they think you said and whether they can build a strawman argument against it.

I earn dollars and currently live in Europe. Over the past few 6 months or so, the dollar has dropped almost 6% vs the Maltese Liri. It sort of sucks, but not that big of a deal.

My cost of living is much cheaper than any place in the States I would consider living. I recently paid an electric and water bill that was 120 bucks for 2 months. My water bill in the Virgin Islands was more than that each month.
Eating out is dirt cheap most places. Beer is normal about 3 bucks. Smokes are on the cheap end $4.50.

I dont see me crying anytime soon when my breakfast increases to a dollar seventy.

What are you guys talking about? Dollar is on the verge of collapse and you are talking beer and smokes. My bank just announced that they don't have enough cash on hand because of troubles at their home loans unit, I am going to withdraw $$ this week

Americans who don't plan to travel abroad can still buy a lot with the greenback. The problem is the world markets are changing in a way that is likely to cause prices to increase faster than we are used to. As other currencies get stronger compared to the dollar, they also buy more commondities on the world market, which drives up the price we (Americans) have to pay.

I'm not convinced that the dollar is on a long downward spiral just yet, but I am more concerned that we import too many goods to stay unaffected by a weak dollar for long.

If it wasn't for inflation because of the federal reserve printing money based on shit the dollar would be worth a whole lot more now

That is incorrect. Money supply will increase no matter what as long as the government spends more than it revenues. The funding source is irrelevant; it could be the public sector (which includes the Fed) the private sector (you & I), or foreigners like China.
Don't be so quick to point your fingures at the Fed if you haven't studied the issue.

Guess what guys! It's been almost a week since this thread began and gas has gone down another five cents a gallon and the US is still here. The world hasn't ended.

Hate to ruin your doom and gloom with good reports...
