Alexa.com is such a joke

rarely updated too. my wenpages screenshot is one month ago

 

I didn't think the widget reported anything back to Alexa. Interesting.

Too bad it's so huge and ugly I'm not sure it's worth it.

 

There rank has never made any sence to me, I have about 40 sites and they are in no way the right order of rank then they should be and have never really been, sometimes new sites rank higher

 

We all know alexa isn't accurate, but I personally do look at the alexa and pr of a site before considering buying anything off it, and i know many people who also do this. So it's a good thing to have.

 

That's why I made that bad boy fully transparent. hehe!

Why? Both can easily be manipulated. This post proves the sentence where I said you can be hurt in the long run.

One of my websites has like 6 uniques a day, and Alexa is kind enough to give it a 400,000ish rank.
Alexa sucks balls.

 

Alexa can be easily beaten and im not sure why they bother to be honest!

One of my blog is having abt 50-55 daily unique visits
and my Alexa Rank is "7,80,011"

And some of my blogs are even 1 week older and still No RANK !!

it shows all links that contains the word same as our domain name..

From my understandings Alexa is a useless piece of crap, that really is pointless. But thats just by 2 cents.

 

It seems in my opinion you guys do not understand the Alexa system! As Alexa works with the major search engines, they use methods wich calculate your site in estimate percentages. These percentages are drawn from major search engine visits. Yes indeed, the search engines register what people search for!

The Alexa team uses pictures from multiple engines, and they draw an estimate of your site. Yes indeed its not always accurate. Some sites have a steady amount of visitors without using ANY search engine. Also there are sites that use extreme backlinking with other sites, and these links are not even threated as existing up to google updates. The influence of search engines is also an estimated percentage. No one is really sure what percentage of the total amount of internet users actually uses the search engines daily.

Alexa compares your site with other sites, it does not calcuate your site personally. They use the information they can get. Give them more, and they will be more accurate. That is why there exists an Alexa toolbar for the people that want to use just Alexa for their information source.

 

I find it useful. The traffic graphs are nice, the trends are still accurate even if all figured are skewed.
