I just started an affiliate program for my scripts store on the 28th and I am working on coming out with a new adsense type ad style. Right now I only provide banner ads for my affiliates and I think that the text ads will be more targeted. I notice that a ton of ad networks provide ads via an IFRAME to their site and some others use javascript. I am wondering which I form of code I should provide. I think that the IFRAME would be nice as it won't be blocked if javascript is turned off and it could be good for my SEO or Alexa rank. On the other hand making an IFRAME without scrolling, padding, or borders is hard to make valid and I try to only provide valid XHTML code. I would like to hear some other thoughts.
javascript loading the iframe would be the best solution. This way bots and crap dont jack up your stats.
Who doesn't have their js turned on? Throughout all of my site less than 0.001% have js turned off. as Shoemoney said, placing an iframe would "jack up your stats" but on the plus side, you get the text backlink. Id say, Javascript and additional html for a backlink to your site.
Thanks everyone. The way I have it now is you put the javascript code on your site and the script prints the ad code. I can't really add an HTML link anywhere because then it wouldn't really look like adsense code. If anyone wants to see a preview of the ads you can see it here http://www.cgiwebtools.com/ad-test.html
