What server do you think is best for large proxy site?

I have established a proxy site that is less than one month old, which is currently catching heavy traffic (~18k uniques for August so far).

The site is putting load on current shared hosting server its placed at and therefore I am willing to get a server for this site alone.

Please advice me of the best server to suite this site, I am thinking about the AMD Sempron 2600 with 1GB RAM.
