Does Google hate .info's?

Discussion in 'Domain Names' started by Lpspider, Aug 10, 2007.

    What do you think?

I can't manage to get any .info's to rank well for for a non-competitve keyword(s). I can't figure why except for the .info.

    thoughts? Advice?

Since .info is available at cheap rates, many people use them to make spammy and MFA websites. The search engines have taken this step so that spam sites are not ranked high.

I dont know why your site isnt ranking well but it is not because it is a .info

I have a PR3 .info site that is only a few months old that is ranking fairly well for several different keywords and phrases.

Its not that a .info site cannot rank well. Yes it can, better than a .com or any other TLD but same amount of backlinks on a .com would act much better. I personally feel that a .info needs 30-40% of more SEO work than a .com.

Im not pushing infos by any means, but it is my opinion that SERPS is based upon the quality of your content and backlinks 100% and not on the TLD

What about .net, .org, .net, .biz, etc etc? Would you say that each one requires a certain percentage more SEO work than the .com?

Myself I do prefer a .com. It just sounds neater and cleaner and may appear more professional to some. But as far as SERPs go I doubt it makes any difference at all what the extension is

I dont think it has anything to do with .info extension , just work on your backlinks and content . All TLDs are equal afaik .

As far as my experience goes I would say a .com, .net. .org etc. all are given same importance. A .info is given a bit less importance and country specific domains are like co.uk, co.in rank a bit lower in Google.com and rank high for that country.

For. e.g - A .co.in or .in will rank slightly better for google.co.in as compared to a .com with same backlinks etc. Whereas the same .co.in can rank slightly lower to the other competetive .com domain in Google.com.

Maybe its funny but I myself have had problems in ranking a .info high.

If I were Google, I would consider .info domains as trash. Especially those registered for 1 year and old less than 1 year. Maybe Google thinks like me. And we all know why I think this way.

I don't feel there is any difference between a .info or any other TLD.

there is a lot more spam on .coms than .infos ;)

I register all domains for 2year period, including .infos ..... read google patents

Where do you people get all this shit about .infos ???

    here's totally my opinion

Google doesn't hate any domains, unless it has some content which is not suitable..

Here is an example.. if you search for prchecker on google, it will show www.prchecker.info on top,
and i can see google only love content..

    I hope that helps:eek:

My Free Press Release site (see sig) ranks between 8 and 10 on Google for the term free press release and it is a .info site.

    Thanks,

info's can rank just the same. The benefit of .com is more people are willing to link, your site seems more official, and more people will remember the domain for type in traffic.
