Do you think this will be allowed?

I've sent an email to google but I'm still waiting for a reply.

I'd like to know what people here think though.

Do you think something like this would be allowed by adsense?

    Thanks!

I think that is awesome, please post if you ever hear back from G on this. Considered doing something similar but didn't since knowing images next to Adsense is a no-no. In this case the image in next to an ad ... which is next to adsense. This might be a loophole.

The image is actually going to link to a random blog post on my site, so it's not exactly an 'ad'. However I've heard that images besides adsense ads are actually allowed, as long as there's a border separating them and it isn't a picture of an arrow pointing to the ad saying 'click me!' (or something similar). However the graphic on the left was purposely made to look very similar to the actual adsense ad, which is why I'm contacting google about it first. I will let you know once I get a reply back. :)

You are making something on your site look identical to a google ad which is considered deceptive and is not allowed. Just having a border does not make it fall within TOS. In fact, they specifically say the opposite in the update to the Policy.

Yeah, I've just checked their updated policy - apparently you can have images besides ads, but the way I've done them would be considered deceptive. Ah well! I've seen a lot done this way a while ago, I guess that was before the policy update. :)

Yeah many people were doing it before. And people still do it today, but its just a matter of time before they get banned. I remember the best ones were on tutorial sites, they blended in so well with the rest of the content. Even as a webmaster and a long time visitor to the site, I still got tricked into clicking the ads. I wonder how much the owner of the site was making.

That's where I saw them - also on some gaming sites, and I was 'tricked' into clicking them quite a few times as well.

I do remember when google experimented with places small ads in their Leaderboards though!

I think its not allowed because the image is so near. Putting images besides adsense is so tricky.

That may be a bit risky. Adsense has a strict policy on this and many webmasters got banned for this only.
