As a similar thread has now passed away that I started in the Google section I thought I would ask a variance here. What would be your preference: A directory that has no PR and ranks high in Google for multiple search terms.... or A directory that has a high PR6 upwards that shows in search results after the 3rd of 4th page... and why? .
well when you visit a directory, i would never go to google and start searching for it. how do you know what its targetted keywords are? i guess PR is good as it shows how strong the directory is promoted.
Ahhh, but you would go to Google to search keywords for your directory would you not! If you were doing this, what would you do if a directory kept coming above your directory constantly for all related keywords?
Guess this is a question for webmasters looking for traffic rather than back links. No? Would have to be ranking would it not?
I am looking at this to see if other directory owners in paricular would submit to a directory with high search engine results if it did not have PR and to see what their views is on something like this happening. Possibly for the future if Google were to remove the little green bar what would directories then turn to.
A high pr is harder to get and valuable to me if we look for search engine rankings which term will be used to decide ?
Hello... Well i guess that all depends on the term someone is seeking to find... what would you like? If you seek the term "SEO Link Directory" then you will find 5 off mine on the first 10 results.. If you seek a Niche Directories then i suggest you try some off these.. and yes biz-king is listed within most.. Society Link Directory Travel Link Directory Regional Link Directory Reference Link Directory Automotive Link Directory I would tend to trust the top 20 results to be a submitters best choice.. As for PR ... i doesnt really matter as a PR0 can easily dominate any terms and beat any PR6... thx malcolm
Well getting a PR is nothing just a 3 PR5 backlinks estimatly (Found this from here )... but working on promoting on a specific keyword or term is the basic thing. For me i will go for both ...
Just to clarify. If I had to choose between the two today then I would choose high search engine results. Being seen from and receiving search engine traffic is I would say, especailly with the websites we own, far more powerful for us than having high PR.
One of my directories are heavily targeted at people from SEs. Many of them often even don't know about SEO. They buy for advertising fee rather than link juice. But the rest of directories I own are created for PR mainly even though some rank high at Google. I sell links in those through webmaster forums like DP mainly. And I don't even care their positions in the Google SERP.
