Regarding checking directories for any change, as in, have they turned paid, how often do you go through your categories in your directories to see if they have changed? so that you can move them to the appropiate categories.
I'm actually re-reviewing every site indexed at cyberbilt and directories are next on the list. I try to look through an entire top category and it's sub cats every two or so days. That way it'll take just a few weeks to do a complete sweep through the directory
I just finished checking one that has been down for 2-3 days now. Although a given forewarning was noted on the forums, I am getting impatient as I feel a directories downtime should be extremely minimal.
Wow, im impressed by you both tmeyer and an0n, i think that level of checking and rechecking is what i should be doing.
I often spend a few minutes a day to rifle through the domains in each category, and see if the site has changed, and if i need to move category to reflect that. The same goes for checking directories, editing their description if they included a PR value of price value in it.
Its something i overlooked, so im literally doing it right now, i intend to make it a regular task to do from now on.
Some directory owners allow the descriptions to use cost/stat indicaters such as "PR6" "only $1" etc, but if these things change you will need to edit descriptions - otherwise visitors will be viewing false data
Thats true, prices and things can change too often, from the beginning ive edited where there is a price in the description. I do have a Sponsored Link on one of my directories with a price in place, but of course because its a temporary link its not a problem.
