    LOL I am just blogging about this as of this moment. I agree to this as I was watching C-Span for the past few days there were conferences held by internet users. The blogging section have their representation and just had an annual session at Washington DC. The SEO's have their side (a**) covered on all sections and even met with the Google Biggies. The directory industry has no representation of whatsoever that is why it is being kicked and bullied. But the fact remains the same that they still need the directory industry to promote their products in which they charge highly and we get a small piece of that pie. Whether or not they like it most of us will remain here NO MATTER WHAT.

    This has been discussed before quite a few times, I think it would be a good idea but it won't ever happen as there are too many followers of one script or another that throw sticks and stones at each other. Wishful thinking though. :)

    Well a Directory Owners Association would be a great idea if we can put aside our differences and work together in the interest of directory owners, regardless what script is being used.

    I said it to you few days ago ,about forming an association.

    When Directories join together ,they render more quality results... than Search Engines

    That depends on how you see it being run. It could be done very simply if it was set up to serve merely as a measure of accountability. The problem we have at the moment is that the internet is faceless as are the directories we use.

    There is no measure of accountability.

    Would be sad especially for the people that make a living from the profits made from selling PR links and offer PR services, etc.

    Google is confused about Link buying and selling.
    They are panic about it, they want to kill that business.

    And they are trying different options.

    Its high time that this industry represents itself. There maybe an across the board bunch of people that would definitely would undermine the proposition but in the end the ultimate winner is the industry itself. No one has ever travelled to 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043 to represent this industry unlike most other groups. No one has set up an annual session. Nobody did care as of this moment. Imho we need this really.

    @The Phoenix
    It is not the scripts it is the industry itself in general. There maybe issues in there but same as in the Democratic Party resolution they are fighting for winning the battle while they are promoting themselves individually. But this can be done I guess with mature individuals. All of this can be represented. Its just finding its way and how to start.

    It's an important topic Antonio and not knocking you for bringing it up but please try and do a search first, saves duping a thread.

    I agree with you mate, the problem I see though is that its the people who have most influence are the ones who are highly partisan to thier own ends, whether it be Kev, David, Simon or others they need to be able to set aside competition differences and work as a coalition with a common goal and that's to work with and for the directory owners which after all is what its about. :)

    Agreed. But remember its not the script owners alone the whole industry itself is to to be represented. I did make some inquiries by myself though and started a little bit since I am from Maryland and very near Washington DC's Google Office for Public Policy at Pennsylvania Avenue.

    Common Goal is what we need and that is I think the right direction.
