Some people even use both. Because both can be used in different ways.

John... some feedback for you. I've enjoyed your posts and the Part I - and was expecting similar quality from part II... but that quite didn't happen. In the end I started receiving offers from you that asked me to subscribe to another mailing list of you (which makes me wonder: I'm already subscribed to one of your mailing list - how many lists would you want me to subscribe to :)).

As said part 2 was not as interesting as Part 1. It was still worth reading, but it wasn't quite as good as Part 1. Also, I would appreciated more to see those other free reports simply as part of the newsletter - not links to "subscribe to new free list".

    Just my two cents.

Actually part two is now gone. It was limited to those who opted in asap.

But you all get a sneek peak at something coming soon.

Initial marketing tactics/research and pre-launching your membership site.

There is something you should keep in mind before actually start making a product. Do your homework.

Join forums of subjects your interested in and do these things:

    • Start providing content and help to others that may not know as much as you.
    • Start finding out who the experts in that field are and contact them, become their friend. (These People can become powerful assets on the day of launch)
    • Build a relationship with people in that niche and reputation.

Once you find a product that will fill peoples need in the niche of your choice, This is where you start finding who is interested in your product.

You start by setting up a landing page much like this:
    www.onlinesharkmarketing.com

You NEED make sure to track the results of where you get sign ups.

Here is an example of a great tracking service:
    http://www.hitsconnect.com

This will tell you where you should focus your advertising.

Those who sign up to find out more, are part of your pre-launch list.
This is a group of people who you will email when the site is live.

They will be your first wave of buyers and affiliates who will help you launch your program.

While you are promoting this page and gaining leads and researching where your target market is coming from, you can start trying to find cross promotion partners.

You may also hear people refer to these people as JV partners, but this isn't really a JV in the true form of the term.

What you are doing is finding people who have like sites, forums, articles, ideas, etc. And making a deal with them.

You could do several things like:

    • Offer an exchange of ads on each others thank you pages when someone signs up or buys something.
    • You can offer them higher commissions than others so that they email their list about your new product.
    • If they are an expert on your niche You can interview them or have them add content to your product.

I recently launched a program and I had 100 members and 24 sales 2 days before I launched because of these tactics. It resulted in 100 people promoting my product on the day of launch. over 50 of whom were respected individuals in the chosen niche who had lists of thousands that they emailed out to.

I decided to revamp part two and make it available here.

Also the power of a membership site comes in the fact that the affiliates are also your list of subscribers.

With using clickbank you don't build your list of people who you know are interested in you and your products.

What happens is you make a sale to someone then they are gone, you may never make a sale to them again. With a membership site, they buy from you and then have the platform to build a relationship with you and potentially become a buyer again. Possibly even paying you a monthly commission.

Not familiar with amember, but with that being said there may be a reason why.
I would highly consider LFM for your membership needs.

BUT with that being said, I am currently looking to provide my own membership site script.

I totally agree with this. For me, it's developing the 'system'. The system for the business requires a great amount of discipline, strategies, & testing to create that pipeline.

May take some time and tons of effort, but I think if you have something valuable to give, people will eventually discover you.

I've been to a couple of membership site when I started on internet mktg and it did not hit me to start my own. I will definitely look at the membership script.

Thanks for part 1. Although I got to a list master site when I click on the part 2 link earlier. Anyway, great post.
