adam Lasnik of Google quoted at Webmasterworld that, If google decides to disable toolbar PR but continue to give relevant info in webmaster tool. Is that OK with you guys? Whats your opinion? I am totally fine with google's decision to disable toolbar PR. At the same time, i hope Webmaster central in future will be a powerful tool to identify and fix issues related to your website. Voice your views!
I use the toolbar just for the pr, 5 rarely use the other tools and you still about taking it off, no way I need it ...
Yeah. All directory owners would be damn pissed if that happens but for others it would be alright as i may guess. Imagine companies like text link ads and others will have tough time.
It would be a dream come true. Authority would be based on ranking and quality of content rather than a little green sliver.
thats what i exactly meant, Take off the PR fine but continue to provide with the insight in webmaster tools and that will be fine. I understand that's where google wants to integrate everything in the end.
Dude it will be very boring to check it manually, the toolbar is so nice for lazy webmasters like me.
Meh, I enjoy seeing the PR. Of course it isn't 100% accurate nor is it even updated that regularly. However, it gives a good idea of how well a certain site is interlinked and an idea of what the links pointed to it are valued as.
As discussed elsewhere, it will stay. Go to a web design forum and people talk about optimizing for Google, not optimizing for visitors, and not as much as for just any search engine. It's increased shady link practices by so much, but in the end that just increases their profit. Google is the internet Walmart, everyone knows the practices it uses have nasty side effects, but its products are too good (for Walmart replace good with cheap) for you to not go back.
If they remove it i'll remove the toolbar. If they add it in Webmaster Tools i wont use it because the metric is handy when browsing to help determine the pages authority. I doubt they will remove it, the toolbar data is important to Google. Also removing it will open the door for say Yahoo to produce YahRank and their metric and toolbar will be used instead which would be a big blow for Google.
With all the publicity about Yahoo missing out on buyout deals and other opportunities, you'd think they'd have something big coming along this or other lines.
there goes one of the greatest feature for google toolbar. I don't think i need the toolbar anymore..
