Are .INFO domains worth anything?

Should I consider purchasing a .INFO domain? I want to setup a couple sites around a topic, and I am considering buying .INFO domains.
Any help from experience would be great.

In my opinion .info will be just as good as any other extension. The actual value of your website will be determined by it's content and backlinks and not by it's extension.

A lot of webmasters are a little hesitant about using .info domains, but I remember when it was the same with .nets

My advice is to concentrate on building a good informative original website. Dont worry about the extension.

Thanks kentuckyslone. I am going to give it a shot. You're right about the content and quality of links.

Some big .info domains have sold for a lot as well, travel.info was sold for over 100k I think and sex.info was recently sold for a ton of money.

I have a fairly new .info - Air Cooled Volkswagens which has a PR3 on most main pages and gets a fair amount of traffic and appears on pages 1 to 2 of search results for many of my target keywords.

Theres no harm in buying a .info and developing a site on it . But keep working/promoting it with good content and links.Domain extension hardly matters.

.com is just the best because it gets the most type in traffic - people don't think to type in .info

.info and .com both have the same SEO value.

For seo .info are the same as .com's

and even for price they are picking up =)

SEX.info is on SEDO atm going for like 200k

    Chinese.info sold a few days ago 37k

    Manhattan.info 70k???

    travel.info 120k??

.info are going up in price imo deffiantly one of the top 5 TLD's

Only us webmasters devalue them because we see them as $.97 domain names. To the 99.999% of internet users, they aren't going to know any difference. Infact, a handful of people may even consider it an authority, not knowing the are infact a lot cheap than .com domains :)

Some time back .info was free.

Your normal seo and other webmarketing efforts matter and not the tld.

Best advice I've seen yet. I used to hear here and elsewhere info is not worth anything. I like the focus on content and links idea. I own

    http://www.speckles.info

I wonder if that'll ever be worth much someday.
