And when you checked your bandwidth usage in your CPanel? How was that?

I Also used godady. they have a special dontrol panel for themselves ( I hate it ). but they doesnt suspend in the first mo nths even if you use the resources they allow u to use or more. But after some time they force you to ungrade your account even you dont need. Dsn management is better than many domain registerers. Mostly after l got experiance with "Domainsite.com" Godady's Dns management is fast and reliable. Domainsite.com is The most uglt l wasted more than 10 domans l bought. Can you belive they blocked my country ip :p its a waste of time they use in work time. Whatever. Godady's hosting service is better than bluehost but they want ur money :) even u dont need to upgrade. thanks.

    cheap is cheap.

I have two accounts, I pay $99.00 per year.
And they are crap for sure.

I have one that I pay $30.00 a year - it is kind of OK.

They do complain of cpu usage, I had to make one of my directory paid just to get the traffic down.

People run after cheap stuff but in the end it is really saying that you get what you pay for

Hosting industry is full of those who oversell

Here is a small tip for you to know hosts who oversell

Compare the shared plans with the reseller plans

Shared plans (if with cpanel) won't get you WHM access although they allow unlimited domains and this is to guarantee that only you will be able to use this space and bandwidth allocated to your account and they know you won't use much of it and if you try to, they will suspend your account saying it uses much cpu and RAM while you really need to use CPU and RAM to make use of that much amount of bandwidth

looking at the reseller plans, you will find much less space and bandwidth allowed for resellers because they know resellers will really make most use of the space and bandwidth allocated to their accounts and thus causing loss to the firm ;)

Having said that, High prices don't always mean high quality and vice versa

Hosting is a try and error thing - what doesn't work for others may work for you ;)

If you are into making serious money - then why don't you pay extra 1/2/3$/month to get stable host while you can lose them (or much more)in 1 day of downtime ?

    my 0.02$ ;)

I have my blog (and i'm using wordpress) at bluehost and have never had a problem. So i doubt you should have any trouble. And your zip files will cost you bandwith but probably not much if they are only 500k but they shouldn't affect your cpu.

That's why all I use is dedicated, as long as my servers are not used for spam or illegal activities, dos attacks, etc I for the most part don't have to worry.

Gotta keep them backed up, secure, etc but that's with anything.

Cheap Unlimited Bandwith and Unlimited DiskSpace (etc) hosting packages will turn out to be expensive in the end in most cases. Why? Cause it is simply too good to be true.

Those servers don't run on 'nothing'. They either oversell the servers to be able to put their products on the market like that or they will eventually their their customers they are using too many resources.

When I started my hosting company and was putting packages together and decided on pricing, I compared prices with other hosting companies. Some were just too good to be true. And I decided not to compete with those.

I like to deliver quality. Who needs a host where their website is either down a lot, or terribly slow?

I used to be with dreamhost, but when I switched to a dedicated server I could see the difference in speed and up time.

It's just what you choose to pay for.

It's like a car. They all have 4 wheels (well most of them...) but they don't all drive the same.

    My two cents.

I can't agree with that because we currently have 3 servers, all unmetered and we really push the connection on at least one of them. The others are also unmtered but we tend to spread customers over more servers.

We've had this setup for quite some time, it's been fine. I'd call ~350TB a month bandwidth pushing it.
