Here is small article that we have published. We hope its useful. All your comments are appreciated It is important that your website has text links that contain targeted keywords. Search engines not only follow links but they also analyze the text within them. As for graphic links there is not any text associated with them. As a result crawlers do not treat them the same way as good, keyword-rich text links. Imagine you participate in a link exchange with other websites and sometimes have an option between a graphic link and text link. So if I base my choice of reciprocal links on the statement mention above - then my preference will be only text links because graphic links are just links while having text links can be rewarded more. regards Jerry ______________________ PPC Search Engine Directory - Affiliates Make Money with Our PPC Search Engine! The statement is pretty much spot on, but SEO isn't just about achieving good positioning via keyword links, its also about creating additional revenue or sales for Clients from targeting relevant traffic. A well designed graphic banner positioned on a popular website in the same marketing sector as your client, could also bring very targeted traffic to your clients site. Which it turn could create sales opportunities.
Thanks for posting, but I disagree With graphic links, you still have the title attribute on the a tag and the alt text on the image. That's good text right there. Plus, depending on the page, graphic links will get a lot more attention, leading to a lot more clicks (which is what matters.)
Yes tags on images can play a good role. But the advertiser has little control over how websites show graphics ads. One advantage of graphics ads is it catches eyes easily.
Good point, but if you are working with another webmaster, you can give them whatever code you want, filled with alt text and titles
