Hey guys, found an interesting/controversial article about why voting Republican for the most part isn't the wisest choice... http://digg.com/political_opinion/Why_voting_Republican_doesn_t_pay What do you guys think? Discuss...
The only "Repbulican" I would vote for at this point is Ron Paul. The rest of the party caters to "big money" in my opinion.
Well, to be honest, I really don't see Ron Paul as a Republican. He's more of a Libertarian stuck with the Republicans because his party is "not popular." And yeah, his views and policies are the only human-like thing in that whole Republican pool of shit they call candidates.
This is a dark time for the United States. The only hope is that the people wake up and take back what the founders of this nation intended for us. Maybe Abraham Lincoln said it best with his hope “that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth.â€
Sadly, it's not only a dark time for America, it's a dark time for humanity. And it has been this way forever. From the nick of time all people ever cared about is power and control over others. Even the good deeds that have been done throughout history have only occured because there was something to be given in return. Manipulation, greed, violence, you name it. It's been this way since Ancient Greece and even before that. Back when people only did what they did because they had to survive. Now what's the excuse? The age of enlightenment was about re-starting everything and forgetting the past of humanity and our failures, and starting a new era of reason and logic. I guess that was a failure too. Look where we are now, still greedy, still violent. A dog eat dog world. From Christians to Muslims, from Democrats to Republicans, from Socialists to Communists. The human nature is a very strange thing, a creepy thing at that. We'll never learn from our mistakes. I know this may sound dark, but it's the sad truth.
That "article" was very poorly written with the usual left wing caricature of corporations. They summarize by saying no jobs have been created since Reagan cut taxes and yet we have unemployment around 4% even with an illegal alien population equal to 10% (hmmmm, I guess that makes the unemployment rate approximately negative 6% ). If you want to be self serving vote Democrat for lower levels of offices to get more pork in your community and vote Republican for president to keep the nation safe and journalism majors busy.
Are you looking to relocate soon? You have an incredible sense of foreboding and gloom. I'm surprised you can sleep comfortably at night with the kinds of worries you have about the US. Are you unemployed by any chance?
I deny your creepy view of things. You don't honestly think everyone agrees with you, do you? Don't forget these are mostly ignorant Brits, one insane Canadian, and a few confused Pakistani's posting here
This article is stupid. I don't think it has a single shred of data to support any of its conclusions. It's just a talking point, and a poorly thought out one at that. Let's fisk: After the tax cuts of 2002 or whatever, the higher tax brackets actually pay a higher % of the income taxes than they did before the cuts were enacted. http://usgovinfo.about.com/od/incometaxandtheirs/a/whopaysmost.htm Did you know that the united states gains more jobs through outsourcing than it loses? It loses the low paying jobs, in exchange for better jobs. Not always, but normally. Nike - Nike moved its factories overseas during the 70's and completed this in 1992. But someone thinks this just happened recently. Stunning. Coca Cola - Coca Cola is made and bottled in Atlanta. Coca cola also sells overseas; so it probably makes sense that it has factories overseas as well where it makes its product. Stunning. It is? Unemployment is south of 5% in this country. Disposable income is on the rise: http://www.bea.gov/briefrm/percapin.htm Who exactly is being undermined? Over 5 million jobs have been created since 2003. Also, if you do business in this country, you pay taxes. It doesn't matter if you have a factory overseas or if you employ people overseas. You do business here; you pay taxes as well. We begin with a false premise and we end with an insult. A great article. All in all. Congrats!
Lorien, Please STOP clouding the discussion with facts, details, and logic! Signed, The vast right wing majority
you are correct, he is a libertarian...the only thing I can really find wrong with him is his habits of being a "truther".
He inherited the unsafe situation, it's safe now. He also inherited a shattered economy (dot com bubble), there's a stable dot com economy now. Maybe we should repeal that ammendment that limited the president to two terms.
oh ok , here comes that republican personal responsibility, mantra I can show many links that say terrorism is worse now, there are more attacks inside and outside Iraq, can you post a link that show in any way shape or form we are safe? Stable .com economy, but totally shitty housing economy, you do read the news don't you? oh wait you live in so cal, Cali is the only place in the country that is supposed to be as screwed as Florida , in housing. the republicans are going lose so hard next election it is going to make your head spin,
Please don't say Cali, that sounds so stupid unless you are talking about the city in Colombia. I won't call that flat bit of swampland Floi. Housing here is fine. Prices are still inching up and are about 300% of what I paid, OK, I admit it use to be 302% but I expect variation but long term it's still an average of 7%, not bad. Don't believe what your professors and the left wing media is telling you. If Bush wasn't off on the illegal alien thing he'd be over 50% approval and he still has a higher approval rating than the demo congress.
